A man who suffered from AIDS appears to be cured after receiving a bone marrow transplant. While researchers and the doctors themselves — caution that the case might be no more than a fluke, others say it may inspire a greater interest in gene therapy to fight the disease that claims 2 million lives each year.
Do you think they are on the road to a cure? This isn't the first time marrow transplants have been attempted for treating AIDS or HIV infection. In 1982 and 1996.In two cases, HIV was apparently eradicated.

I posted an article regarding the same thing yesterday ersmommy. In my opinion this is more of a gene related anomaly more than anything else. There have been over 30 similar procedures undertaken in AIDS patients yet only 2 instances like this have occurred thus far. What it does provide though, is an opportunity to reverse engineer the biological happenings that took place and hopefully move closer to finding a vaccine or inhibitors. There is muc more research to be done but it is a promising situation.

Wow this would be great if it did cure the AIDS disease. This is especially good news for Africa isn't it that has a high AIDS rate? This would help alot of children be able to live normal lives.
