Any other 4-Hers out there?

I never joined the 4-H. I was an FFA member though.

My daughter is in 4-H this year for the first time even though she is 14 and we just turned in two poster projects- one horse poster and one dog poster. She done well on both posters and won red ribbons on both. We are very proud of her and she is proud of herself!

I was to have started 4-H the summer after I finished fourth grade, but I had to drop out, because I came down with the summer flu. Between the flu and summer vacation travel, there was no time for me to be there enough times to qualify. This meant that I had to skip a year, so I began the summer after sixth grade and continued it through the summer between my high school graduation and the start of college. Although my main area was foods, I also would take another category from time to time (a secondary category where I still had my main one as foods). It was lots of fun, and I'll always remember it!

I am a 4-H leader and my kids are active 4-H members. We go to Club Congress next week! I think there are still many misconceptions about 4-H just being about livestock.
