Do you use aircon at home?

I have an aircon which I use very sparingly because of the high cost of energy. I even put off my ref because I am so afraid of the bill. I am alone at home and I seldom cook so I have no need for the ref. As for my aircon, it only works when my son comes home to have his vacation.
The high cost of living makes me sweat whenever I see my bills that is why I don't use the aircon, unless it is too hot and i can't bear the heat. It is not so hot these days unlike summer and I could still bear the heat at night so no need for aircon.

From the time we have transferred here in our new house since October of last year we didn't use our aircon until this April. When the summer started it was almost impossible not to use it. It seems like you were sleeping in an oven you know because of the heat. The children are complaining and I couldn't bear seeing them sleeping with sweat all over. I hope the summer would finish soon because our electricity has doubled. Literally doubled. Our aircon is kinda old already so probably it is not very cost efficient anymore.

We only use aircon at night and during weekends. During weekdays, I am the only one left in the house and I only use electric fan. Our average monthly electric bill is P2,500. Before, we even reached 3,700 because I think it was summer and my baby niece is sleeping in our room and the aircon at that time was really 24/7.

Well, I also use the aircon sparingly considering that it really jacks up the electric bill. The problem is, its very hot today here in our country and it would very uncomfortable to sleep. So I just have to bear the price just to give me a comfortable sleep. I wanted to use the electric fan, but I can't bear the air. It seems that my body will ache all over if the air hits me overnight.

Well, we have to use an airconditioner at home, because it is 40 degree celsius at our place now a days, and also due to humidity, it becomes difficult to not use an Air-conditioner.

I do use airconditioning unit. I work at night and I live in the Philippines. I end my shift close to noon time when it is really warm and sleeping is a problem. I already covered my room with black curtains to make it easier for me to sleep but still no use.
I use it halfday. I am currently having challenges with it since it is only half horse power and it aint enough to make the room cold as fast as i need to. but working fine after 2 - 3 hours i turn it on.
Good day!

We don't have an aircon at home. I thought I would be able to buy one for my room last summer but I needed the money for something else so, I am planning to buy one before summer next year. Actually, I think we just need an aircon during summer here in our place. Since the cold season is just around the corner, the air is cool and fresh. I agree with you, the high cost of energy is also one of my concerns for buying an aircon. My mom will freak out if our electric bill jumps sky-high

We don’t have an aircon at home and do not intend to buy one even in the near future. Same thing here, the very thought of the exorbitant bills wont let me enjoy the cool air, so why bother buying the machine.

we have two airconditioners at home. one for me and my husband and the other for my boys coz they sleep in the other room. But my boys are the ones who use the aircon more often coz they are very active and they don't like sleeping when it is hot. My boys use their aircon till morning, from around 10pm til around 6am. My husband and I usually arrives home late so we use the aircon from only midnight till around 3am, just to make the room cold enough then we switch to electric fan. the cool air in the room usually last til morning so we are able to save a bit by turning the aircon off earlier.

Yes we do have aircon but I make it a point to use it only when its extremely hot or we have visitors in our home. You're absolutely right, with the high cost of energy, we should all learn how to minimize using these kind of appliances. Not only it helps in cost saving but it also helps saving our environment particularly our athmosphere.

I use aircon in my room only at daytime since temperature is quite humid and become hot at noon until 4 pm. At night I use it until 7:30 pm then I off it until morning. Though I don't pay the electric bill (company pays) I prefer to use my aircon that way, it helps lessen the electricity bill of my company.

I live in the Middle East. Every flat here has AC because it gets really hot, especially during the summmer. It can get up to 52 degrees Celsius. =S It's not only our apartments, we have to have AC everywhere and when it's really hot we don't go out at all. Even the smallest of stores here have AC, not because they want to, but because it's absolutely necessary.
We usually leave the AC on when we go out, and turn it off when we're in a room so it doesn't hit straight into our heads. xD
That's just the way it works here. =P
House-Car-Work-Car-House, and everything has AC. xD

Hello there! I have the same concern as yours. We have two units at home: one in our bedroom and the other one at the kids' room. We seldom turn ours in the bedroom because of the soaring electric bill but the kids have to turn their during night time...whew! the prize and the price of comfort!

yes I have an old school aircon here at my flat.. i have plans of replacing it as it consumes a lot of energy.. my electric bill ranges from PHP 1,500- PHP 3,000 a month.. yay! My electric power saver that i bought for PHP 2,000 doesn't seem to help at all.. grr!! you know, i live in a tropical country and using the stand fan alone doesn't help to make me feel cool and comfortable.. good thing, the weather's been cold these past few days, there's no need for aircon..

The air conditioners are high consuming electric device. But today its presence is very essential. As a way of cutting electric bills you can go for a Solar powered air conditioner which is going to be a one time investment. Also it is a way of preserving the environment.Try it..........
