If I can do it both then I will do it. When I was a student, I also was able to have my work. I work in the morning and have my schooling at night. Those where thr days when I have to go to two schools for my elective subjects. You can do that.

id rather sacrifice my studies for me to work. we are studying for us to look for a job. and since a person already has a work, it is more like an escape! lol thats only my point of view..but on the other hand, i believe that each of us should finish studies so as to have a better job!

i think if i were asked to choose between work and studies at present, i would definitely choose to be in school. my parents pay the tuition anyway so all i have to do is study hard and do my best to get really high grades.
but if the time comes that they won't be able to support my studies, then i'd willingly work just to be able to support myself, but i'll make sure i balance both school and work though. i don't want to prioritize work over my studies even if i know that it is essential for me to be able to attain a degree in college.

Hi myanime. It happened to me when I have to choose between studies and work. An International Airline Company offered me a job while I was on my On-the-Job Training. It was really tempting since at that moment working for a prestigious company and give high package was something I can't resist. But, I thought about it for so many times and I declined the offer. I preferred to continue my studies. I don't have regrets since I was able to finish my college and been give opportunities with other companies I worked with. So, to cut it short, I won't give up studies for work. Work without a college degree is quite difficult. Nowadays, there is a stiff competition in terms of educational attainment. It matters a lot. Just be patient with your time. Finish school then later on work. :-)

My prof warn us about that,... I think your right... Because if you choose to accept that offer you will have no choice but just to work on that company,... And if the time comes that your work ends on that company you may become unemployed because your not a degree holder,... Thanks for responding,...

Hi ! Its really interesting to make a call between studies n work . Depends on the circumstances one has to face I suppose . Sometimes its one s family who cant support their children s education or people who are having many responsibilities cant go on to study they are forced to work .And other case when you have choice I think both the things are important to sustain in this world. I will go for studies if i want to and than to work.

i think there should be an equal amount of studying, working, and fun. for example. i worked throughout college for all the money except for the actual tuition i paid. so that mean i needed to make enough for food, rent, gas, and play. but i also held 20 credits a semester. you can't have too much of one thing or you'll go crazy or fail at the other things.

I have to work because due to the budget cuts school has already taken 2 extra years. So I couldn't afford to go without working. I am getting to a point though where I might have to stop working for a few weeks, and in this economy I wouldn't be able to do that if I end up having to give up my job just to take a few weeks off. Then I'll just have to stay in school a bit longer instead.

Of course, if someone is providing you the money you need, the option for you is to continue studying. You must give up your work and study hard, so by the time you finish studying, you can have a good job. However, if you insist on working, what will become of your studies? True, you'll earn money, but is it enough? I side on giving up your work for your studies because there's a great chance of having a high-paying job when you already finish studying. Of course, that's only my point of view. Consult your relatives or your friends because they know better. But know what? YOU know best, so decide for yourself.

If you can manage your time well...why not do both concurrently. I worked as a full time white collar in an office environment and go for class at night. It can save time and ensure that you can earn for a living plus financing your studies. It all depends on individual preference. Of course if you intend to concentrate on your studies, give it your best shot.

I know people that had to give up pursuing their education to keep their job... because if they stayed at their university and took their classes they would loose the job, no job, can't pay either way... also they had responsibilities as well (wife, kids, or a kid.. payments, rent that sort of thing)
My job during my university years was at the university itself i was the assistant of the English department there so i didn't really have to pick one or the other since my work hours were put when i had free time. Even if i finished classes early i wouldn't leave before 8PM.
So each situation is different... each person has their priorities so it is important to know what yours are in the first place.

In the ideal work an equal amount of work and studies is best. Unfortunately we do not live in an ideal world. In the past I have done both, sacrificed my studies for work, and given up work for studies. Now what I do is sacrifice my sleep to be able to be a full time student, full time employee, and a single mother.
The trick is to always have a plan. Once you plan everything out, like writing a schedule, you can work it out.

Most of the places that I have workes at in the past won't usually let you just skip work if you have a big project due or something. I mean they will give you time off for finals, but not just for everyday assignments. That it why I am thinking of trying some kind of work from home job where the hours are more flexible.

I would suggest anyone do some 'check and balances' with their current situation. I was a student full time, and I was working full time at the same time... It was hard, but I was able to manage my time to do homework, and to not miss school or work. If you think studies are more important, you should consider a part time job only. Unless you're in a bad economic situation, I would then suggest you work full time, and go to school 1/2 -3/4 time. 2-3 classes only so you don't feel swamped with work from your job and school.
Those are my thoughts...
Thanks!
