Hell no! ask your parents if school was easier or harder back then. Kids didn't learn the math they do now a days in high school. Everything is more advanced. I learned algebra in 8th grade.. my parents didnt until 11th.

NO, I have 2 11 year olds. 1 in 5th and 1 in 6th. The work that they have is amazing. They each come home with Math every night...30 problems (already getting into Algebra & Geometry. Then they have to read 30 minutes every night. My son who is in 5th grade also right now is studying spelling words meant for 7th-8th graders. It is tough, but my understanding is that parents are the ones making it tough on their kids. They want school work to be harder and extra homework. They are competing in society to have the smartest kid out there. My opinion...Let kids be kids!

At least someone agrees with me :) I just remember getting to a point in my schooling where my parents couldnt help me with my homework anymore. That shouldn't happen.

Absolutely. I am emailing my kids teachers a lot and the other day my daughter came home with homework that I could not figure out for the life of me. I told her to call her teacher...if she didn't explain it at school she needs to over the phone. Last night my son had homework that I also didn't understand. I looked it up on the internet with no help, so I called my mother who was a school teacher and she had no idea either. It drives me crazy. They need to ease up on these kids. They go to school for 6-7 hours a day and then come home with 1-2 hours of homework. Let’s not forget that these are kids, not adults that work 8 hour days. Okay, sorry I was venting off my frustration with the school system!
