When you are sleepy, do you fight to stay awake, or go to bed?

Most kids try to stay awake even though they are obviously sleepy. I've even seen some adults do the same thing. I used to do this as a young adult. Since I watch a lot of movies, I sometimes find myself still behaving in this manner. I know since I've grown to become a lot more mature now, that there is not anything that I am going to miss, but sometimes, I still do this. My kids are hilarious though, my oldest daughter reminds me so much of myself at her age of 6 now. She continues to ask questions, offer to do things in the house like small chores that can truly wait until the next day to do.
What about you, do you still find yourself fighting to stay awake even just a little bit longer?

Well, here's my thought. As a parent, my ONLY ME time is at night! So, I fight sleep all the time and then crave it during the day! lol ... Isn't that terrible.
For instance, right now it's 12:10 a.m., I up watching Jimmy Kimmel, eating Salt and Vinegar Pringles, drinking water and responding to odd questions like this. Oh, what a life!
My little boy is funny too about going to bed. He's 2 1/2 ... Well, you'll read him his story, tuck him in, give him kisses, big bear hugs and, his favorite, high fives. He'll be in there for 10 minutes and then come in our room and say, "I wanna give you hug" or "I wanna give you kiss" lol ... ANYTHING to not go to bed! He's a sweety!

Oh that is the classics stalling questions aren't they.
Just moment's ago, my son came upstairs to the bonus room, he's sleeping on the couch tonight because we are about to move, so he says, "Daddy, I can't go to sleep because of the light coming from your bedroom!" ~ LoL. Oh, but he used to be the first one to turn the light on in his room before going to sleep!
Got to love him.

Oh no sireee. I have fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue and if my body says "sleep!", I do. I've learned to listen to it.

I do at times find that I struggle to stay awake a lot of the time and as I have gotten older staying awake is not as easy for me to do as it once was. I Have a harder time staying awake sence a lot of medical problems i have had latly have gotten me tired more easy. The times I find it the worst that I struggle to stay awake is when there is something I want to watch on T.V. and I know they might not rerun the movie for months and I might forget about te movie till it is to late to watch it in the reruns.

Hello,Johnson! Sleep is a biological necessity for all living beings. So we should not try to stay awake when actually our body and mind needed to rest.If you don't sleep when you feel sleepy problem would arise.I go to sleep when I feel sleepy, may be in afternoon or in the night.thanx.

In the past, when I didn't have a private room, I always was awake to go to bed. But now, when I have a private room, nobody has to awake me have to do something when go to bed or get up. Because now I'm grown up enough for everybody awakes. I'm adult. So I have to be an example for a child to look for.

Yes, I always sleep when I'm already sleepy. if it's way past my bedtime but I'm not sleepy yet then I won't sleep if I'm having fun doing something. :)But if everyone's having fun and I'm already sleepy, I won't be a kill joy and ask that we go home just because I'm already sleepy. Most of the time, when I fight to stay awake, I'm not successful though. :P

Sometimes, if I really love to do something like doing bead crafts. But often, since I became older, I go directly to bed every time I feel sleepy. I'm already a mom so I need to get up early and care for my daughter who will be going to school.
Lucky for me because if I really choose to sleep late, I go back to bed when my hubby goes to work and my daughter has gone to school since I am working homebase.

It really depends on whether I am doing something important. If I'm working and the deadline is near, I will drown myself with tea and try to stay awake. For any other reasons, I will not fight to stay awake. I'll grab some sleep first before continuing with what I need to do. Even a short power nap will do good. It makes the mind more alert and we can focus and remember things better that way.

hi there! as for me, it depends on the situation..whenever i felt sleepy at school, i really fight to stay awake. there is a rule in our school where in students are not allowed to sleep during class hours. we are subject to listening to our instructors discussions. i always yawn at the class specially when boring teachers are doing their lecture but i can't do anything bout it.
when im at home, i always go to bed when im sleepy.even my mom can't force me not to sleep because i really insist to sleep specially every after dinner. lol

I have sleeping problems so when i am tired and able to sleep I jump all over it. I find it really hard to wind down. So nice in the late night and early morning with no kids noise and activity and nice writing time.

If I have a choice I go to bed when I'm tired. I don't get much sleep because of my job so I have to make the most of every hour I can get. The trouble is I'm a terrible sleeper, so quite often I still can't sleep no matter how tired I am. Also my fiance is one of these people who always makes themselves stay up late..so when I want to go to bed she's always trying to make me stay up aswell lol. Can't live with em, can't live without em! :P

Hi hdjohnson, I always fight myself to stay away from sleep for I’m too indulgent in playing my favorite computer games. I always tell myself this will be the last trial to challenge it but always in vain for I usually never keep my promise at all.
I do fight to stay awake if there are still some things to do with the project which I have set to complete on that day. If I really couldn’t beat the drowsiness, I would like to have a cup of hot tea to keep myself awake and energetic. It works well and I could keep on doing my work.
I would like to keep myself awake in the middle of the night if I'm waiting for my loved ones to return home from outstation. I always try to keep myself awake by surfing net or watching tv movies.
posting and take care.

I used to do that when I was younger, I would try to stay up as long as I could, especially if I was watching a movie, sometimes I could almost stay up all night, then I would sleep in late. But nowadays that I'm older I can't do that anymore, I've tried, but I can't do it. I'll be sitting there watching tv with my head bobbing up and down, and still trying to keep my eyes open, then when I just can't take it anymore I have to go bed, and it'll only be 12:00 at night...lol. Then I think man, I'm getting old.

Well, obviously, if you are sleepy, then just follow what your body wants, which is to sleep. Why torture yourself right. Even if I have work to do, I don't see the point of staying awake to do it. Better to just sleep jfirst, and then wake up the next morning to do it. I've read somewhere that it's best to sleep at 9pm and wake up at 5am, from a health point of view. People who practice this, will look younger, age less, and will be much healthier. Jennifer Lopez once stated this also.
