dental implants?

OK so I love to go online and just look at the weird random anamolys the internet has to offer. I went to youtube and say a dental implant being performed. Ok this is not for the weak of heart because it involves drilling your mouth and insert titanium screws into it. Is this procedure common and have you had it or know someone that has? I just think its great the progress of medical science.
