As we all get ready to eat or partake our food, whether during breakfast, lunch, dinner, or simply having snacks in between meals. Do you make it a way to say grace before indulging or eating your food? Is it somehow automatic or sometimes it takes you a slight effort in doing so?

family prays together - praying before having a meal
Hello there, when i was a kid and living on my grandma's house. We always praying before having a meal everytime, to say thank you for the blessing that we about to eat. But when i went to college and away from home, i find myself that i never pray all the time. I just make a sign of a cross and eat right away specially when i am so hungry but i do my best to restore that habit of praying. Happy mylotting.

I think that's also one of the reason why us born again doesn't do the sign of the cross. Maybe because its being used as a substitute from the real sincere prayer. Thanks for sharing and God bless.

That sounds really cool..Its automatic and at the same time its more of a want than a need. Thanks for sharing. Have fun.

I have made it a habit for my family to pray before we all started to eat. I'm a Christian Baptist so praying and giving thanks for the Lord was our timely offer for Him. Even as I worked I always thanks and pray for everything that I have recieved.

As you rightly pointed out, all the cultures all over the world have developed a means to thank their respective LORD. For example, in our country (INDIA), IT IS CUSTOMARY TO PARTAKE FOOD (usually on a clean banana leaf) ON EARTH (since the earth is considered the mother goddess) in an upright pose that facilitates speedy digestion. When the food comes, everyone seated takes a few cc. of water in their respective hands, encircling the food with their hands and eventually drop the water on the earth. Then, they fold their hands and bow down to Gods in reverence.
