My whole day today went in reading through the hordes of responses and giving away the best responses. It's indeed tough to mark just ONE! There were so many good responses! In fact I even tried to do Eni Mini Miny Mo..! That made me wonder, what do you guys do when you are in a dilemma? How do you resolve your discussions with many substantial responses?

Thankfully i don't get into that dilemna, for the reasons that i do not get so many responses. It can be very tough though Mimpi and if i had to go through this(discussions over 50 responses) then i would probably select the top 4 or 5 read them again and again till i decide on one. Here is one suggestion: Give it to a newbie if there is one amongst the top 10. You would sure make thier day and new friend for sure. I would consider this a big encouragement for a newbie to actively participate here on mylot.

Hi Alok You are one of those mylotters here who uses the decorum and essence of the forum in the true sense. So even if you get few responses, you get substantial ones. And the point still remains. You must be having tough time deciding on the best! You decide: all quality responses among 10 and 10 quality responses among 50 - which one is more difficult!! I guess, it's more or less the same! Coming to the newbies, I appreciate them whenever I get little chance. It feels great on my part. And you suggestion is a great one. Happy mylotting!

It does happen sometimes Mimpi, but a little deep pondering and one instantly recognises the extra effort put in by some. And the newbie part i suggested for the reason that i experienced the same.

Hi gold flower! you can still have the problem with 10 responses! Just imagine 9 out of 10 are quality responses, what do you do then!!

It is not so much of a problem with me because I hardly ever start a new discussion...to busy us trying to get replies done to the ones my mLot friends start, as I don't like for anyone to feel neglected, although somethings it is unavoidable. But when there are many good responses, I just try to give BR to the one who gave a good answer first, or who has a long history of having been conscientious about replying whenever I do start a discussion, or maybe if it is a newbie, the one who might need some encouragement.

Sometimes I have to just sit there and go, "eenie, meenie, miney, moe." Sometimes I give br to the post that makes me laugh, sometimes, it's the answer that I just cannot say anything else to because it was so well stated, sometimes, I just close my eyes, move the cursor, and wherever it lands, that is the br. Some discussions, it is the one that is the most unusual answer. It really is hard to give a br, if you are trying to be fair.

Hi Mimpi...I agree going through all the comments you get and giving the BR tag is not an easy task...But its only fair that the BR tag goes to the deserving person especially when the person has gone to great lengths to apply his/her mind, for giving apt comments. But if you get more than one quality response for the same discussion,I guess you have no other option than to give the BR tag to one of the best randomly.....That way you can rest assured that you have made a fair choice.... Also if you get too many responses to the same discussion, and you feel its a tedious job to go through all the discussions all over again,in pursuit of the best, there is an easy way out.......You can note the first comment that you come across, that appears apt to your discussion, and give the BR tag...That way you can rest assured that a deserving person, who is also quick to respond ,did get the BR tag.............. Wah what an IDEA Madamjee......

Oh I didnt realize I have given two answers,Mimpi.......The first time,my net went off,I thought I didnt post it....he..he.....But I suppose it makes your task easier.....while selecting BR..........So here is one more suggestion..If your friend gives you two comments, you can give a BR at least for one.........My goodness I am just kidding MiMpi........

lol...I have the same problem. One, I wait ages before I choose a day to decide best responses and by then there are so many responses (and quite a few good ones ) that it's hard to choose. I read, I re-read...and then check if the person has written it well....and many other minor things. Sometimes, I try to see if the best response is from someone in my friend list. From a group of good responses, I might consider giving a BR to a 'newbie' to boost them up a bit. And sometimes...I just decide on the good ones and do an 'Eeny meeny mina mo'! I remember to mark all the responses with a '+' unless it's a response which is way out of topic and really rude. Sometimes I don't mark a + for one liners either.

I kind of mark all the respondents positive, no matter what. I feel anyone who has dropped in should be credited. And sometimes I wait for ages as well, sometimes forgetting the whole discussion and guess what that takes up more time to get to feel of the posts.

Hello dear mimpi. It is true that sometimes it is very difficult to choose the best response as there are so many and you will have to compare first before you make the final decision. But anyway, I wish you lucky and smooth in choosing the best responses. Good day, mimpi.

Wow, you read through all of those responses that you get?? I salute you for doing just that. Then again, I might probably do the same thing.LOL! Id just allot a specific day for a discussion that has a lot of responses and read through them, then Id be going back and forth comparing responses that I like to determine which would be the best response. Its a tough job awarding just one best responses when there are a lot of best responses right? Anyway, I havent awarded a best response to most of my discussions yet. They're already months old but I have a plan to award them either on the Christmas Holidays which would also be my Christmas gift to those who get the award, or on my birthday early next year. It would be my birthday blowout for myLot members who have responded well to my discussions.

Hi there! Oh I have done that before and yes it is tiring and takes a whole day to choose the BRs. I always choose responses that answers my questions and also informative for me. If I'm still having a hard time choosing, I just the response that makes me smile. This discussion reminds me, I have not sorted out my unresolved discussions for the past months. It think this time I will be needing at least 3 days. Ciao!

Its very subjective mimpi, usually I give BR to those who are close to me. Honestly, it is one of the dilemmas we are into in here but I usually delay giving BRs which makes it more and more difficult to decide on.lol. But never tried the Eni Mini Miny Mo thing yet, maybe the next time, closes my eyes and hit whoever the pointer lands on !

When a response has piqued my attention at the very first time I read it, I will remember it clearly the time I mark BRs. I just have to go with my first gut if there are way too many great responses. Right now, I'm actually having a problem picking one for a discussion and I'm thinking that maybe I shouldn't just give one out as I don't want such a big responsibility!

I think those who give a BR when they get the first few responses are lucky that they do not have to go through this dilemna. I have a few discussions with 50+ responses and cannot figure out whom to give the BR to. I wish I could get some help!!!!

Hello Mimpi1911 This one is a very tough discussion, especially because I am one of those who start topic every after a few days. If you would look into my profile I have now over 100 discussion but only few discussions have BR. Choosing the best response is the most difficult part. Especially if all the comments are pretty good, if I can find the best response or if I think all of them deserves a best response, then to be fair to all those who responded my discussion, I don't give the award to anybody but give them all a positive rating. But I think the suggestion giving the BR to a newbie who has also a wonderful idea would be a nice idea. True it would boost their confidence to participate. Happy mylotting.

Hi Mimipi, It is never easy and I wish I good give to many on a lot of my discussions but I sometimes go for the one that made me laugh the most, sometimes the one that moved me the most or the one that had the most informative and relevant information to the discussion topic is the one that I will choose most often. It is difficult when there have been a lot of responses and it is something I really should do myself at some stage over the weekend as I have lots of unresolved ones. Huggles. Ellie :D

It is hard to mark best responses when there are so many. I have had that problem many a time and I have to go through the ones I like best a few times before making my final decision. You have actually reminded me that I think I have quite a lot of outstanding ones, I best get them sorted out.

I know what you mean there are a lot of good discussions out there and most discussions get a lot of good qualified responses from people who have a lot to say on the subject, and I can understand that you have spent your whole day reading through all the responses, and giving the best responses, and I agree it is very hard to mark just one response as the best response, and I do not blame you for trying Eni Mini Miny Mo to help you pick the best responses, and I am sure that every person has a certain way that they go around giving the best responses and I am sure that there are others who have trouble picking one when there are so many great responses,I used to have trouble picking the best response, because I was not sure who deserved it and I wanted to make sure I gave it to the person who absolutely deserved it so it would take me a while to mark the best response,or I would say I would mark it later and then a week or two would go by before I would go back to look at the responses on my discussions, and then I started using a method, for the discussions with only one response I would give that person the best response, for discussions with a couple responses I would pick the longest response or the one with the most quality, and for discussions that had a ton of responses I would go through and look at ever response I got and I would count how many lines it was,and then I would mark the best response as whoever gave me the longest response,I know that is not the best way to mark a best response, but it has helped me mark best responses,so I have more time to spend starting more discussions, and responding to as many discussions as I can.

[em]Hi Mim, I know what you mean. My last post had over 80 responses and I am going to need to mark BR one in a few days. It'd not hard enough that you need to reread them but like you said then you have to choose. If there are several of your best mylot friends with great responses, which there usually are, that even makes it more difficult. I can't wait till it's my turn to do this. One suggestion might be, weed out all the one or two liners, which you probably have done. Then maybe go to the longer responses and see if it contains real quality contents. But you know all these things. I like Eni Mini Myni Mo! leenie

Thanks Leenie for your suggestions. I try to do justice to the respondents as much as possible and at the end of the day it gives me satisfaction that I could do it. But sometimes it does seem like a great responsibility.
