lack of knowledge may cause lack of confidence, but lack of confidence may be due to different things like disabilities or handicap, traumatic experiences, self-esteem probs, or plain lack of love and attention.

The too differs. Some who have knowledge do not get to use it because they are not confident to show it where as some with little knowledge go a long way because they are confident to show it.
