On Thursday, November 14th, 2008 family and friends gathered to remember the life of my ex-husband, Mark. The place was packed with people. There were people there that I hadn't seen in over 20 years. Mark had touched so many people.
We all cried, laughed and sang too. The songs played at the funeral were ones that Mark enjoyed. One that his sister picked out was so perfect. It was by the Eagles, one that was on their latest album "You Are Not Alone." Here is a link to the song on YouTube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTppU_CQLUw The lyrics are so right on the money. I tear up as I listen to it.
Mark loved the song "Spirit in the Sky" by Norman Greenbaum. This song was also played for him. My daughter and I sang along with it, his sister joined in. I could hear a few other people singing too. The last song played was "Free Bird" by Lynyrd Skynyrd. I do believe that most everyone joined in with this one. It was a wonderful way to send off a wonderful man.

Thank you ever so much! I know that as the days go by, it will be easier to cope.

I am glad things went smoothly. No, I can't say that I have sang. I am one that is always teared up during those things whether I know them or not. I always have that lump in my throat and couldn't if I wanted to.

Mark's sister chose the song. I had never heard it before yesterday. The words were so perfect that it made me cry.

no I never sang or even gave a eulogy, I am just too shy for that.
