Men and Spitting.........How Disgusting is That???????????

Why oh why do men think it is so macho to spit? Every where you look, it doesn't matter if it is a public event, it doesn't matter where they are whether walking down the sidewalk,getting into their car, they are always spitting. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THAT?? Do they think it's cool? Do they think it makes them look macho?? I guess I just don't get it. To me it is just plain gross and disgusting. I'm sure they are spreading germs doing that. I don't know all the logistics regarding sputum but I would think it carries a lot of germs and if that sputum is on a hot pavement or on the ground and someone steps in it,can't it spread germs???? Maybe I am just naieve about the whole thing, I don't know. It just seems every time I see a guy out in public, they are spitting.Is there a reason for it?? Can anybody explain this to me?? Or should I just go crawl in a hole and forget about it?

I agree with you, it is so digusting. I used to have a friend who will just spit everywhere and sometimes when we hang out, always made sure i stay bit far from him just in case his bad manners will get on me. I think every city should have laws against spiting in public. People doing it should be spot fined.

I have no idea why. Maybe some of the people today are just buying into the old sort of value of being really "macho" and used the spitting to convey it because its sort of traditionally one of the signs. Uh. I know some guys that do or used to do this, and I had a friend who was a girl and she spit too. I thought it was all DISGUSTING. I don't understand it much either, but I wish people wouldn't.
