I am one month preg and going for my first doctors appointment next week. I was wondering what are the type of questions and clarifications I have to ask my doctor? Any suggestions. Also what are the tests they will do first and when will I have to go for my first ultrasound?

Congrats =)
The first poster had good suggestions... also ask about something to help with morning sickness because it is real bad with me... each mom-to-be has it differently. Another is to ask for prenatal vitamins but check that it has low i mean low amount of vitamin A - found in carrots. It's good for vision but can be bad for the baby.
Ask what pain relievers you can take (acomol -- i misspelled it -- is fairly mild but is good since it helps reduce fever). Because if you get sick and have a fever that is bad for the baby to.
It never hurts to ask about your own general health as well... a healthy mom = healthy baby lol
Im going into my 5th month and will be having a boy God willing =)
There is nothing called a stupid question, i asked a load of my own lol but she was kind enough to answer without laughing ;)
Hope that helps!

My doc was exactly the opposite. I had to ask her everything. she said all the prenatal tests will be performed when I am 12 weeks due. I am 6 weeks now. My regular doc is on vacation and that is why she, his wife had to attend but I am hoping I will get better care when he is back....

congrats on your pregnancy. i'm pregnant with twins. the first ultrasound is usually done when you're around 10-14 weeks pregnant. the first test they had me go for was some blood work to make sure everything is okay. it also told me what my blood type is. make sure you talk to your doctor about any over the counter medicines you're allowed to take in case you get sick. some, are very dangerous to the baby.

Hi I went to the doc for the appointment. they confirmed I am pregnant and told me to take some vitamin tablets. I have another appoinment in 12 weeks time where they do the pre natal tests. Also by then my regular doc will return and I will be much comfortable talking to him.
