Due to being a Survivor of Domestic Violence, which then turned to me Abusing Alcohol, I went thru a time in my life where I was homeless, and had a hard time finding a place to live. I was on Low income also which did not help. So I find a place in my heart for a lot of the ones on the Streets who may be where I once was.
Good thing for me, was God was watching over me and protecting me. as I always was able to find a Friend, or shelter, etc. where I could stay until I got back on my feet. Thanks to Salvation army for sure.

No, I am one of the lucky ones who has never been homeless because I could always find a bed somewhere.
These days we are sort of homeless but not in the accepted sense and our state is through choice, because we do have a bed and somewhere to sleep, even if it is in our camper or caravan.
Also there are some people who are homeless through choice, i.e. they do not want to live in a house or anywhere that requires some sort of committment, even if it is just paying rent.

So very True. There are a lot of people who choose to stay homeless by choice. You never know why some are homeless, or choose to be that way unless you get to know them, and understand where they are coming from. But those who learn to get out from under that to a better life are often the ones who are better off in life as a whole, as they have been somewhere others have never been, and can relate more.

I was actually homeless as a teenager..not a plesant life to say the least! and its also why I am very compassionate when it comes to homeless ppl....I've been there and I know its not somewhere we ever WANT to be much like sadly so many think (I've had some very heated arguements about it with ppl over the yrs)...I've slept in stairwells, in parks, squated in abandoned buildings and so on...its a very harsh existence....

I thank God, i have never been homeless. But i give high regards to those people who were once or many times homeless and could get up and be well rounded person with God's help! Everybody has different trials in life but the question is: How do you get up or respond to your trials? Thank God,KrauseHome you survived through Salvation Army by God's grace and mercy!

Yes, I will always have a place in my heart wishing the Best for people who are homeless, and wishing them the best. There are many who will have No hope and stay homeless, and some who will pull thru it even better tomorrow than what they are today. I know it helped shape me to who I am today.

I admit I am very lucky ,cos since I was born, I have never been homeless before. But,I have experienced before in a situation when I am totally broke without any pennies when I am still schooling and when my parents separated.Dad was jobless and mom only made a very tiny income.I later gave tuition as an earnings.

I have not been, but my fiance has been when he was little. It was because of an alcohalic father and then later an abusive stepfather. They spent some time in shelters.

Well, if you can learn to bring yourself out from under this, and be a better person from it, then you are better off. I am sure he has shared some things you yourself would never want to go thru.

I have never been homeless so I have been lucky in that aspect. I can imagine what it would be like to have no home that is for sure. Can't be a good thing especially if you don't have any friends to help you out. Glad you was able to find your way out of it and back to living in a house and having a better life
