If a nap is simply out of the question- try quite time, turn off the lights, TV etc.. and read a book to your little one- you may be surprised to find that this leads to a nap.
Another suggestion- is watch the sugar intake that can really mess with a 2 year old and can explain the afternoon melt downs.
I hope this helps and know that all mothers have gone through this same thing at some point and it will be ok.
Good luck to you.

Yes, I had this problem my daughter when she was about 2. I had just started back to work. And with my work schedule. I don't know if it bother her sleeping or what. But, I tried a couple of things which worked for little. I'd sit in her bed with her and read her story books. Sometimes I'd just lay there and hold her singing to her. Of course I might have fallen asleep with her a time or to also. But that ok we need nap sometimes too. I also to her there's quit time where I'd let her down and watch some cartoons on the couch or look at story books. Hope this helps some. Happy Mylotting!!!!

I experienced this with my youngest son at about the age of two. I just took an hour during the afternoon and labeld it as reading time rather than nap time and he would sit or lay still while I read to him or colored or something relaxing. With him it lasted about 3 months and then he returned right back to napping right on schedule. Go figure! LOL
