My nine year old has had difficulties staying asleep at night. We have tried many different things to help her with this problem. It's off and on she can go for a month or 2 sleeping fine then she'll be up due to "bad dreams" or just unable to go back to sleep.
We have a white noise machine her room which helps her get to sleep at night and a firm bedtime routine in place. bath, reading, song, and sleep. we've tried a later bedtime and more physical activity during the day. None of which work consistently.
So I was wondering if trying her on melatonin might be a good option as it is a natural substance your body releases anyway. Several friends have suggested it I was wondering on how you felt about it.I would appreciate any feed back you might have.

My doctor suggested I try melatonin for sleep, but it says on my bottle that it is "NOT INTENDED FOR PEOPLE UNDER 18". Also, I find that sometimes when I use it i feel really sick in the morning. I would avoid it. See a doctor and get something more appropriate for a 9 year old.
