When I attended my stepsons wedding last week, the father of the bride wore his kilt to the wedding. Being Scottish, this made perfect sense to him. And, he wasn't the only one in a kilt. The man that offered up the groom also had on a kilt. Now, if this were Scotland I am certain all the men would be wearing them, but this was not Scotland, this was Seattle Washington. Most of the men wore suits, even the old hippie wore a suit So, what is the most unusual attire you've seen anyone wear to a wedding, be it male or female?

You should have put on your high heels and knocked them all of there feet. I really haven't seen any strange and unusual attires at any weddings. The most typical thing I really have seen is, sorry that was a prom picture. My cousin was in a tux, with a cane a top hat. I guess I haven't seen any. How did you react to those kilts?

The kilts didn't bother me at all. We were laughing at one man that showed up in his kilt, it was on backwards I would have shocked all them religious folks if I showed up in high heels. Not to mention scaring my new family members

Because the mother of the bride shouted it out as soon as she saw the man I know nothing much about kilts, they are not my style

The way the world is going I think we need to be grateful when they wear anything at all. I do agree with your comments however we need to compliment our country a bit better at times.

Since the bride is Scottish, they made the kilt offer to anyone that wanted to wear one. I don't own a kilt so I declined. Besides, who'd want to look at my old knees?

Both my best man and chief usher wore kilts (they are both Scottish). I just stuck to the traditional white dress until I was told that it was wrong to upstage the bride and had to change into a morning suit (top hat and tails). People can be so prickly on these occasions! However, I had a friend who got married wearing a parachute apparently - I was abroad when she married so couldn't attend. As did her groom, his best man and priest! They married at about 10,000. Must have played havoc with her hair!

Maybe she wore a crash helmet for her hair My son wore a tuxedo, as did his new stepson. Yeah, it does seem unfair to upstage the bride

It did look rather unusual. He says they are a pain to put on properly along with the rest of the stuff I guess. the only part that looks easy is the knife in the stocking

I'm from India and at weddings in our community, it is customary for ment to wear formal pants and a shirt or the traditional Kerala attire of a shirt and a cloth (Mundu) around the waist. But at my sister's wedding last year, my father-in-law was at the wedding in trousers which seemed like track pants....and a T-shirt (a dirty looking one at that!). He hadn't shaved either and looked like a beggar off the streets.

Yes, that was rude too! I have no clue what he was thinking....he doesn't talk to me (God knows what I've done)....and I wouldn't want to go talk to him asking about his attire. The most embarassing thing was when people asked me where my in-laws were and I didn't want to introduce them to my father-in-law...naturally I would have then had to answer why he was dressed that way (and I wasn't going to answer something that I knew nothing about).

Airbrushed... - Airbrushed...
The strangest outfit I've seen at a wedding was a woman who had her wedding dress airbrushed on...I've included a pic of it. I can't imagine showing up for my wedding basically naked with just some paint covering my body. The only thing real on her is the shoes, gloves and veil. I guess she won't be passing her wedding "dress" down to her daughter LOL ~~MY OWN PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG AND BELIEVE IN YOURSELF**

Mm..just dying to ask this, was the father of the bride at least wearing underwear under his kilt? LOL...I've heard the REAL tradition of a Scotsman wearing a kilt is to be au natural under that kilt... I don't know I don't think it's any wackier that say a couple whose origins are from India being dressed in traditional garb of their country, like a woman wearing a special sari I've never personally seen a wacky weird dressing up at a wedding but remember seeing on the news one time how a couple got married on Halloween and decided to dress in rather ghoulish wedding attire. In fact, the main table for the reception banquet that followed wasn't a table at all but a coffin...sooooo

That must be the most commonly asked question Scotsmen get though, right? I've seen candid pictures of men wearing kilts at St.Patrick's day parades and a wind had blown up their kilts...uh, nope, definitely weren't wearing underwear

Someone had the courage to ask him if he had underwear under that kilt. He said "None of your business" and laughed.

Nice kilt photo! By the way, once can find people wearing jeans to a wedding over here. Can you believe that? Do you find it "rude" and disrespectful? I must say I do find guys look a bit weird in those kilt which to me, looks a lot likes a lady's skirt. Sorry, no offence intended as it was only my very personal opinion. The same thing goes for high heels. What is your comment if a guy wear high heels? Would you find it strange too? I mean liking something is different from wearing it!

I find it strange that people would wear jeans to a wedding, especially if it is a church wedding. But, to each his own As for the high heels, I would find it rather amusing to see guys wear them since many guys can barely figure out how to walk in sneakers I wish more guys would wear high heels, and maybe skirts too

Hmmmm, I am sitting here trying to think of something that I thought was unusual for wedding attire, but my business caters to the "Bohemian" bride, so nothing is really that unusual to me. I've had bare foot brides, a bride who wore a ruby red dress, my nephew and my daughter's best friend will be married in March of 2010, and the groom and groom's men will be wearing zoot suits and fedoras. One of the groom's "men" will be a female friend of his. The girls will be wearing traditional wedding garb, but they will also go bare foot. One of the bride's attendants will be a male friend of hers. I don't think he will be wearing a dress, but who knows with those two.*L* Like I said, I cater to these kinds of people so I don't find it unusual at all.

Barefoot is probably the best way to go especially for the females Usually at the end of a wedding day the bride is so sore from her heels that she will tell you she doesn't care if she ever wears heels again

Maybe the family has scottish blood lines in them? If it is the case it makes sense that they wear the quilt. If not I don't know what to say.

I am Scottish and was married wearing a kilt. I find it odd that you would think of this as strange. It is our National dress no matter where we live or get married. My wedding was in Canada but I still wanted to pay homage to my homeland by wearing the kilt. Strange is when people get married on halloween dressed up as zombies and other such weirdness.

I wouldn't say it was all that strange for him to wear a kilt, just different Yep, Halloween costumes for weddings is very strange to me

for me, there is no strange attire Ive seen yet. Except that if the bride, groom and the others uses Red, purple or pink or any other color instead of a white gown/clothes. Well, it depends on them anyways. lol

I really like the kilt but didn't know when one wore a kilt they wore the top part of a tux. I haven't actually seen anyone wear anything strange to a wedding but, my husband has pictures of his sisters wedding and all of the grooms men had swords. And, no they weren't in the military, the groom just thought it would be cool for them to have swords and so he bought them for the men to have for the wedding. Strange huh? lol
