Creature Of The Night? Strange Dreams!

Hi All, Haven't really been up to posting or responding too much this week due to lack of sleep at night.
I am used to the noises of night creatures as I live in a rural area and we get a lot of foxes, badgers and owls at night but on Monday my neighbours dog, which never barks started barking which set my dog off too and I was awake and so was my son but once I had settled the dog we heard an horrendous screaching noise which I have never heard before. I live in the UK so we don't have wild animals as such but this sounded awful and something I had not heard before. Any ideas what it could have been?
Also when I let the dog out he was very hesistant to go out and I had a feeling of being watched by someone or something.
The next day I asked my neighbours if they had been disturbed at all and yes my neighbour with the dog was but so were some a few doors down also. Another neighbour who also happens to be my ex said he had a strange dream in that he was sat on the elevated section of my garden (no access to anyone not even me, wild and overgrown) looking in at me. Great, so it was his dream but I had a feeling of being watched from there.
Is lack of sleep finally making me crack up? I feel uneasy in my own home right now, can't relax, it is as if I am waiting for something to happen but I don't know what it is.
Discussion questions.
1. What could the creature have been?
2. Do you know what the dream meant?
3. Have I finalyy lost the plot?
Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi MsTickle, I am used to foxes and owls round here so I don't think so but whatever it was started the neighbours dog off who never barks so it was most unusual. The dream wasn't mine it was my ex's so I think it means that even though I am not with he is still watching out for me. Who knows. Huggles. Ellie :D

That would keep me up too with worry trying to figure out just what it might be . Has to be some kind of wild animal , or maybe people ? But with those noises . I hope you find out soon . Try not too worry it will be caught or go away . I dont know what kinda animals ya have there .
I actually had a dream the other night of black bears getting in the house and going crazy ! No matter where i hide they came ! freaky ! There are woods but bears are not common here in my part and furter out !

Hi Metschica, I live in the UK so we have deer, badgers, foxes and owls and not oo much more than that really. There have been sightings of big cats in the past, a few months ago I thought I saw one myself so it could have been anything. Slept reasonably well last night for the first timew this week so hopefully it has moved along. Huggles. Ellie :D

Ellie it could have been a fox or any other animal that could have triggered the dogs to bark at night. Did you find any footrprints in the soil in the morning? Did you search for any. I don't have a clue what the dream is all about. I am not much of a dream interpreter I am afraid but it seems you need to relax a good sleep.© ronaldinu 2008

Hi Ronaldinu, No I can't get up to the area that they seemed to be barking at but I have lived here over two and a half years and we do get many foxes as mess left outside sometimes and also many owls and badgers so it is strange that they started on this occasion. I slept a bit better last night though not for long enough so perhaps whatever it was has passed through the area. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi PinayPrincess, I didn't mean to spook you and give you goosebumps although I myself did in fact feel very uneasy. I live in the UK so we don't have too many wild animals here that it could have been. Thanks for reading and for dropping by. Huggles. Ellie :D

Watching a recent discovery channel show of critters in your area they were discussing owls. Some of them make some really creepy noises. Could it have been an owl you heard maybe? As for your neighbor's dream thats more creepy than the screeching to me. LOL As for losing it - people who have gone off the deep end are much more entertaining than normals anyway Ellie so enjoy it.

Hi Tess, I have been listening to owl sounds earlier today on a link that someone left and it definitely wasn't that. I am used to the sounds of owls and foxes as we have numerous round here and so are the dogs. This was different. As for my state of my thanks for the reassurance Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Ellie. It was a superb idea to speak to your neighbors to find out if they heard any noises. Wild animals in a garden would set a dog living there off barking. It might have been a fox or a badger. Dreams have meanings very often and I always get a scary dream when I have a fever. I am not sure what the dream you described meant. When I am really stressed I stay awake at night and hear planes fly over my home because I live about fifteen miles an airport. Often I forget a dream on waking but last night I had a dream about being in area and losing the way. I asked someone and they said it was a long walk but I was on my bike. Then I woke up before reaching where I was going in my dream. Good luck with sleeping at night this week and an end to strange dreams. Maxine.

Hi Maxine, The strange thing though Maxine is that in the two and a half years that I have lived here my neighbours dog has never barked unless there is a knock at the door and there have always been foxes and badgers and even owls in the area, we are built on farmland, in fact where I am is old cherry orchards. I think as it was his dream and he was watching me from that section he may still be looking out for me in some way. I am not very good at dream interpretation myself but my gut feeling on your dream is that you yourself are holding yourself back in some way from making a decision and from going where you need to go and create delays (getting lost), cycling is easier than walking so the difficult route is the correct direction to maybe go in. There was a dream interpretation site I saw once maybe you should look it up. I did sleep a bit better last night though not for too long and feel brighter today so perhaps whatever it was has moved on. Huggles. Ellie :D

I'm sorry to hear you haven't been sleeping well, and I guess hearing this weird screeching sound that must have been like a cry of a Banshee didn't help your nerves. Since you mentioned owls though, could it have been a different type of "call" of an owl?? Owls can have different calls depending on their situation...How about a hawk? Just out of curiosity I did a search....I found this website that gives the sounds of different owls....go through it..you might find the sound you heard
http://www.owlpages.com/sounds.php
{Warning: this is not a referral link but a link to owl sounds one can listen to}
Uh, no don't think you've lost your "plot"

Hi Pyewacket, I really appreciate you posting this link for me and have listened to a few including the tawny owl one that says from UK but I am used to owls and foxes and so are the dogs, this noise was completely different and didn't sound pleasant but noise is always amplified at night so I suppose it could have been. Having spoken to other neighbours further down the lane they were disturbed nights prior to when I have been so whatever it is seems to be moving. One neighbour said they saw a badger on the green and although they grunt can make strange noises when mating and we did have a hunters moon recently so perhaps a creature forraging for food. I slept for the first time properly last night and the uneasiness seems to have subsided a bit but I will investigate the top elevated section of my garden that I can't get to at some stage to see if there are any signs of it being disturbed. The dream the guy had I think is him still looking out for me I guess evee in his sleep LOL. I am pleased to hear that you don't think I am losing the plot. I will listen through further to see if I recognise it. Thanks once again. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi ellie,
Wow, if your dog didn' want to go outside that's not good. I'm not trying t scared you. Why didn't you call the police, maybe they could have scared whoever was out there, don't let you dog outside at night. and locks all your windows and doors. Let me know if you found out what it was. Do you think it could have been a cat that hurt?

Hi kaleegirl, I never even thought to phone the police to be quite honest. I can't get up to the back where I felt I was being watched from as it is an elevated section surrounded also by brambles so I guess it must have been a creature of some sort but I have been here two and a half years and the dog next door has never barked at the normal night creatures and it did sound awful. I have been making sure everything locked just in case but the dogs have settled again now so whatever it was must have passed through. Thanks for worrying over me Kalee but no need. I will be vigilant. Huggles. Ellie :D

1. Could it have been a fox? They do make the most awful heart stopping screeches sometimes and have frightened the living daylights out of me in the past.
2. I think the dream meant that your ex has an urge to hire an industrial brush cutter and use it on that overgrown patch in your garden. Result!
3. Quite possibly. Join the club! Have a jelly baby :-)

Hi GreenMoo, Excellent response. I like the idea of having a jlly baby, I'll bite the head first though as I'm no cruel LOL. Whatever it was has moved on now though and the dogs are settled again at night bu it was a horrible noise. I will get up to to elevated section of garden at some stage but it is great being left wild for the birds and other wildlife especially now as I can see there are bushes full of berries. Huggles. Hey, ellie, sounds you recently are very worried about sth, can i say it's because of lack of safety? The dream says you ex is watching you, you must be afraid of being watched. So were there any event that you feel you're being followed or watched? Well, i've no idea what the creature is. Lack of sleep does afffect you health, you need to catch up. All the best~

Hi Lynette, I know how much lack of sleep affects and had yet another sleepless night last night. I have in the past because of who my partner was been followed and watched all the time so perhaps ghosts from the past are rearing their head. Up til last night though I had been sleeping again and haven't heard the strange creature since but yes have a lot of my mind so you are pretty correct there Lynette. Huggles. Ellie :D

Good to hear that you're recovering the time of sleep. I had a fast sleep last night, and i wake up this morning with a very fresh head and very happy.
Enjoy the heavy-honey dew of the slumber (This was learned a couple days ago from Ugly Betty,an American TV Series. )

Gee Ellie, that all sounds quite freaky!
Maybe the aliens have landed? I'm not taking the piss - honest! You just never know.
Either that or was the screeching noise perhaps from a car accident, or someone brakes screeching, or something like that? Or was it definitely a human/animal noise?
Hope it all goes away and you get some decent sleep soon.

Hi Violetdreams, I know you are not taking the pee because funnily enough my son said something and both my neighbour and I looked at eahc other as if to say profound but a possibilty. I once saw a UFO over Horsell Common and that is where HG Wells wrote War of the Worlds so perhaps that is where he got his inspiration. It sounded like some some of creature but one I had not heard before. I remember thinking at the time, I wonder what a Banshee sounds like and hoped it wasn't that I had heard. I was uneasy about it. My son down a growling type noise when he told the neighbour what woke him. We have a quite lane that runs up by us (no traffic so no screech of brakes) and one neighbour who has two dogs said her two dogs wouldn't go up there the night before that which is unusual but she did also say she had seen a badger on the green but they grunt rather than screech. I hope I get some sleep soon too as I am physically tired but mentally alert at moment, even burst into tears for no reason earlier which is so unlike me but overtiredness can do that to people I guess. Hi Violetdreams, I am used to hearing foxes and the following day there was fox mess on the front so it is a possibility but the noise was coming from the back area from above where the elevated section is. Thinking about it again it sounded monkeyish is a way but we don't have monkeys wild here. Perhaps one has escaped but had no reports. So it could be amourous foxes, but if I was a fox I would choose a better spot to mate LOL. Huggles. Ellie :D

Hi Ellie333,
As I read your post I have the theme song from the series 'TWILIGHT ZONE' playing in my head!...Gosh!...What a night that would have been for you and your family?...The comment your son made, could and would of been an option for me, I tell yah!...hehe...What if it were something not of this world?...The fact that the feelings of being watched is also freaky!...If I were you and the neighbours, I would investigate further...But then, that's me all over!...I get into alot of trouble cos' I can't leave well enough alone!...hehe

Hi Kimirio, My neighbour joked and then we looked at each other as said that perhaps he was onto something as many a true word spoken in jest eh! All I know is that her dog never barks and would have gone straight out to investigate but wouldn't, usually of a fox or anything else it would have been straight out into the garden and mine too although young can't wait to get outside so it was spooky them big time. I will investigate as like you I like to know. I have had the feeling of being watched before though but this one felt uncomfortable if that makes sense. Huggles. Ellie :D

WELL A WET SUMMER AND A WARM WINTER, MMMM sounds to me that you got a fox with a second litter. It seems to happen very very rarely but when it does they get brave in seeking food for their young. OK ok it may not be a fox but i bet it could well be somethig like that. No i dont think you are losing the plot lol. As a well practiced psychic i have had experience of remote viewing through dreams it can be distubing but he certainly will have no control over it. It is quite possible he simply almost manifested there, maybe some kind of protection?
blessed be

Hi Eskerena, It seems more likely to be a fox than anything else but we are used to fox noises and it doesn't usually disturb the dogs but it may be that they were a lot nearer than usual to forrage for food for the young if a new litter is a possibility. The dream the guy had I believe shows he is still looking out for me whether he realises it or not, so yes protection but the feeling I was being watched did make me feel uneasy. nless it was the foxes themselves as they may be in the elevated section I cannot get to. Hi Jill, It was only after I posted this that I remebered a few months ago spotting a very large cat, much bigger than a domestic and there have been many other sightings in the West Country of such a creature so this could be a possiblity. Oh I am being very cautious at present. Slept a bit better last night but still not enough and need to play catch up. The guys dream yes was a bit freaky but someone suggested he might have just been saying that or it could be that even in his sleep he still watches out for me, who knows. Huggles. Ellie :D

The screech sound may have been fox or even cats -- I have heard just regular cats make the most awful, eery sounds at night, and not even sounding like cats.
The weird part is your ex having that dream, and you having that feeling of someone watching you. But it could have all come from hearing the sounds coming from that direction.

Hi Littleowl, As ever I have an open mind to anything and the fact that the dogs were so disturbed tells me i wasn't just a fox or badger as we get these all the time. The dream, he could have been travelling in his own keeping an eye out for me but I am going to actively try to get up to the top elevated section of garden to investigate anything that may be up there. There is no access from my lower garden at all and so overgrown that no one can get to it from the side access bu doing my bit for wildlife in that it is great for the birds as there are trees with berries etc up there. Hi ellie! That sure is weird! Do you think that it could have
been one animal attacking another animal. Maybe that's why
the dogs were barking. Apparently something was there and it
was bothering the dogs. That is proof that they heard and
sensed something was there or wrong. I don't know. I would
certainly go on gut feelings and on the dogs behavior. Don't
know mucha about the dream thing though. Have you felt
something since then? It's too hard for me to tell. Only
you would know what you and your neighbors heard.

Hi Opal, Whatever it was wasn't a usual night creature sound as these don't usually disturb the dogs. The dream the guy had I think says that he is still looking out for me even in his dreams LOL. Huggles. Ellie :D

Obviously it was one of the undead coming to eat your brain.
You do not own a monkey's paw do you? I watched a tv episode of The Monkey's Paw where you got three wishes, but they all turned out terribly wrong. A couple wished for riches, they got insurance money when their son was killed right after the wish, so they buried him and the wife wished her son back. They heard dragging footsteps and scratching and moaning at the front door as the wife went to the front door the husband with a look of terror on his face wished on the monkeys paw and the wife threw open the door and no one was there. He then threw the paw into the fire. He of course wished his son back to the grave.
Not for late night reading

Hi Mariposaman, I read the whole story in the link and yes you must be very careful for what you ask for and the consequences. I found it interesting, thank you.
