I have recieved strange messages on my mobile phone and want to find out who the person is. i have the number but don't think i should pay to find out who it is. the only options i have found on the internet is 'reverse number'and it costs. Any ideas?

This depends on the nature of the messages.
If they are inoffensive but you simply wish to ascertain who the sender is then your only real option is to call the number. However, if you consider them to be a nuisance, then you can contact your service provider to register a complaint and they should then follow the matter up.

Exactly, why not try to call if you're really curious who they are?
Otherwise, you could really as help from your service provider, they would be really happy to help you block the number from sending you offensive messages.
As for the sites, well, they don't give out real informations anyhow, they're just there for show, they do give out the name and the location, but as to how far? there are those who really requested their service provider not to give out names, so you couldn't do anything about it. Not to mention that there are numbers which are prepaid and service providers don't have any information about them, they just buy the sim card and they could call or send message to whoever and where ever. These types don't have records regarding their infos.
Good luck!

This happenned to me to. Weird text messages that made no sense, even calls that would be cut after just one or two rings, just enough for to register as missed calls on my mobile phone. It can be very irritating at the least, and distressing at the most, because you somehow know the other end is someone who knows you. THe usual advice is to just ignore, and make no response whatsoever as this will just encourage the other party to keep sending or calling.

psh... I get tele-marketers on my cellphone! I get frustrated sometimes... Making no response just causes them to call more frequently. Text messages must have cost you money... that sux. At least the telemarketers were calling during free minutes.. which is in a way infortunate because my free minutes start around 9 and That's around the time NCIS re-runs are on... psh... I wish only bigfoot had my number! =)

I myself noticed that the post is two years old only after I posted my comment, and Spagooly doesn't seem to be active anymore.
I don't think we get telemarketer calls here in my country, but we do get a lot of text message spam including including tlemarketers, plus scams.
Yeah I sure hope the poster has gotten rid the Anon weird texter. I know how it feels, very frustrating.

I always get the names of unknown numbers on whitepages.com. You can do a free reverse search here and it will pull up who the number belongs too, unless of course it is a cell phone. Good luck on finding out who it is.

Oftentimes, i just ignore those kind of messages that come in to my number on the cellphone. It is just a waste of money if I text them back and know who are them.

[b]hi spagooly!
i even receive text messages from people i don't know but what i do is send a text message asking who that person is. if the person doesn't answer back then i don't bother to send another message. if the person answers with a name i don't know of, then i reply back by saying i don't know who that person is and that he/she is sending the message to a wrong person. at least i have informed the person that he/she should check on the number to be sure.
happy halloween!
