I just don't believe in the charity of man anymore. I don't believe that anyone cares about thier fellow human beings anymore. I think everyone is out for number one. It hurts my heart to feel this way but I just don't see any generosity of spirit in the world we live in.
Anyone else feeling this way or am I just having a bad day, week, month, year?

To see the good in humanity you have to become part of the good in humanity.
Get involved in some volunteer organizations and you'll meet people with good hearts and good intentions who are making a difference to improve their littel part of the world.
Go to 1-800volunteer dot com for a list of volunteer opportunities in your area.
Happy MyLotting!

I have felt this way for awhile now, I have often said how selfish the world has become, the very fact that countries can spend so much money on exploring space when their is so much hunger and all the rest on this earth, I think it would be far better to spend all that money on fixing this world up first and then there is local issues, people just don't have compassion anymore, it is a very sad sad world and i can't see it getting any better for future generations...

I hope so too. I could really use a secret santa not for gifts or anything like that but just for encouragement and restoring my faith in humanity.

I am sorry you feel that badly about people. maybe you need to open your eyes a little more wider and look around. You will see and read stories all the internet how people are helping other people. Either by saving them froma car wreck, helping with groceries or adopting a stray animal. All that my friend is charity. I also heard charity first starts at home. When someone starts to be charitable towards someone because they can. Than it spreads the joy on.

Honey I have been giving and giving of myself in many forms for so many years now but I am a little tired of my charity and generosity and giving being abused or not appreciated. I still continue to give but in this town I live in there are so many greedy, nasty, violent people that you really can't see any humanity left. I refuse to watch the news here anymore because it is always bad. Used to be that I lived on what was called "the westside is the best side" of town but now there is even more violence and hatrid on this side than the other sides of town. It is not just me noticing it in this town all you have to do is listen to people talking around you to know that they feel the same.

Look I live in a very very big city myself. The area I live is a bad area. heck if you don't see the cops three of four times a day you wonder who house is being raided. You also hear sirens so much that the neighbor kids think it is music. Hatred and racisum is a big thing going on. But I also have seen chairty and generousity among other things that happen in my bad community. I really don't believe there is anywhere on this earth that doesn't have someone who is willing to help another.

Must be just you.
I seem to have spread Christmas cheer to a lot of people already.
Here online as well to neighbors.
But I have always been the type to give instead of ask.
I enjoy seeing others happy before I am happy most times.
I am not now, nor ever been out for number one.
I am hoping that I am not the only one actually.
Hope things start getting better for you soon.

Hi Grandpa Bob,
You are one in a million literally. I am a giving person also and always give so much of myself never expecting anything in return. For years I had a secret. I chose 3 or more families to secretly help at Christmas time. I would gather stuff for months and then stay up real late Christmas eve putting together food and gifts for these families and then deliver them in the wee hours of the morning leaving the gifts and food (perishables in a cooler) on there doorsteps. I called this mission of mine door step santa and I enjoyed every minute of it for 6 years. I just don't see alot of generosity either monetary or just of spirit anymore.

I really believe you're having a bad day, month, year. As far as charity is concerned, alot of people can't afford to give, but it's not because they don't care. There are alot of people who are like you say, but not most people.

Not talking about giving of money but of spirit. I feel that people just don't care about other people anymore.

I think you're going through a bad spell and it's colouring the way you feel about the world in general. Sorry you feel that way, because it must make you feel pretty pessimistic.
There are loads of good, generous, giving people out there. Just look at your friends list if you need a reminder occassionally ;-)

I too feel like this at times. But I make it a point to lose my heart and hope. It is contagious and spreads like wildfire. One lost hope ignites another and the entire society loses hope. Well as you come across more in human things at a stretch you tend to become depressed and lose hopes. But we will come across a noble act like a bolt from the blue that is capable of wiping out all the evils of the world. These random acts only make the world go in.

It depends on the place you are in. Actually here in our country, MOST of the people are like this. But since I know that I AM not like that, I still believe that there are still few people who are left with humanity :D
Dont lose hope. If other people would see you being kind, they might be influenced and realize their own faults,.

Oh, I don't know about that. You know we hear about more stuff and we are almost at the point of saturation, when it comes to information. I am thinking that the we people are the same as we always were, we ust get to hear about each others nastiness.

I understand that you are probably going through a week, day, month, or year that has been absolute hell for you! However, there may be some people that are like how you describe, but thankfully not everyone is like that. I certainly am not like that. I do believe in a give and take society. If everyone helps eachother out when they are in need then this is wonderful and everyone's life becomes that much easier to bear. I have a friend who I have know for many years an he has helped me out lot when I have been in difficulty, I certainly don't take advantage of his kindness. Also, by the same token I feel I can give him help in return! I have some technical expertise when it comes to computers and so, I help him out in relation to this, I give him tuition and so forth. I still believe that there is some light in the world! Some people are so beautiful, so innocent and they just love helping others. I hope that you have some nice experiences in relation to other people. Good luck. Andrew

I have felt this in the past. After reading all the news of what people are doing to other people, it just makes me sick sometimes. But there are still people out there doing good for people. I think volunteers who put their own lives on the line to help out other people in need give us some hope. When I read about people who are trying to help out other people, I feel that there is still hope for humanity after all. But then again there are those people who just don't care. These are the real people we should be mad at.

I agree with you somewhat. If you watch the news, read the papers, it's all there. It's gotten so that I don't even read the papers anymore except for the funnies and the entertainment section. But once in a while, I find articles that are about people who've helped other people in one way or another. Be it firefighters or cops risking their lives, or your next-door neighbor, or even a complete stranger who was at the right place at the right time.It makes me want to look beneath the surface, dig deeper, and find what many don't see.

Being a recluse and generally misanthropic, I can tell you that there is no good in humanity, there is only inhumanity. Through the ages there has never been peace or even a society close to mirroring heaven. We can only pray for a conservative dictator that will ban everything degenerate and throw everything wrong down hells mouth. Life under such a dictator would be hard but you have to give up something to gain something. You can wait for such a person to come into power or you can do as I have and live a secluded life as far from people as possible. You can reach out to people on the internet if you need companionship. But you don't have to like them there either. I hope this has been helpful to you.

I'm not really too sure about it. Someway I agree with you. Take all the violent for example going on forever in the world. However I'm sure there are a lot of people who definately care about other human beings.
