Argh. Call it stupidity, carelessness, whatsoever, it happens at times and I hated myself of doing it.
Yesterday, I am into rush of things and my mind juggle for the long list of work to be done, my boss did instruct me so many things and I started to hate here for giving so much demands that I think I would eventually blowout, I told my colleague that I need her to help me out, I grabbed my cellular phone and texted her with a message : "Please come to the area immediately, the freakin boss has a lot of demands that already piss me off, I would kick his butt if I would see him". The next thing I know my boss called. The message was sent to him.
You can guess whats next. Have you ever done something really you regret you wish you didnt do ?

Ouch, that must have been a disaster. I feel sorry for you man...
That happened to me but my big boss luckily understood that it wasn't for him and the backstab talk wasn't for him either. Well, it was lesser than what happened to you but it's a bit... careless too...
We'll just have to be careful next time then...

Yep that has happened to me before, but since it was just to a family member about a family member then all that happened was they was really mad for awhile but really I was speaking the truth when I said I never hear or see from anyone unless they want money or to borrow something which is true about the person I was talking about that got the letter. Mine happened through a yahoo instant message.

Since that incident my respect to him is by far the better now, in fact he is the one I look after to, and never complained again whenever he give me some tasks, I learn my lesson so badly. Thank you for your thoughts on this discussion.

The incident turns actually into good, since me and my boss did make a talk, and I told him honestly about the situation, explained to him how hard things that day was, glad he listened.

Looking for another job was the first thing that cross my mind that day but I did manage though to talk to him, at least he also did it professionally, although, he suspended me for a couple of days, still I am grateful on him for not firing me or anything, I am learning my lesson in a hard way.

OMG! it does happen to me but fortunately not to my boss. once, was having a sms conversation with a friend (second person) and was talking about another friend (third person). and as usual it was not a good conversation about her, just a feeling of releasing my anguish feeling towards her. then suddenly after sending a message i realized that i've sent to the one whom where talking about and so not to make it a big fight i just talk to the third person and patch things up. i hope in your side it will do good for you too... good luck

you were in big trouble there. i don't know how you answered your boss when he called. that is something that i don't want to happen in my life. hopefully it did not affect your work. i rarely text so i didn't experience that kind of thing yet.

Here in the Philippines, we often use text messages than give someone a call, since it is much cheaper here, these incidents I guess happens to people here, but not all, at least for many. I did regret what I have done and glad my boss was tolerant at the moment, he did suspend me though and add tons of workload, *cry*, still I am grateful for not firing me. I still owe him one.

you were still lucky indeed that you were only suspended after those text that you sent by mistake. and you were right to be thankful that it was not termination.

Hi torchblazed! This was an outrageous mistake. I just couldn't imagine what your Boss had told you when she received your message. I have the same mistakes also but it had not gone as far as sending a message to the most unlikely recipient.
I have also made many mistakes in the past which I thought should not be said or done. Though I really regretted doing these mistakes it had somehow help me to learned and further improved in that aspect such as decision making, selection process, etc. So whenever I do big mistakes, I just take them as positively as it could be and charge them to experience.

I am grateful enough that the boss did make a good way to deal the situation itself, of course the first thing that struck me at first was to pack my things in my desk and hunt for another one, but still I manage to communicate and explain to him, but the good part of it though was he was the one to call me first and ask me to explain it to him. As a punishment I was suspended for a couple of days and when I came back, you can expect tons of workload and added more, it is by far better than firing me though. Thanks for the respond.

Wow!!! I recently lost my job for being tardy too many times. What could I do? I apologized as much as I could. It is not like I could turn the clock back to fix things. Oh well. I was looking for a job when I found that one.

I am still thankful for him to tolerate the situation, I do rehearse myself though what to say, still, I was being "punish" into some other way, still I am grateful for not firing me, its hard to look for new job these days, hope you have found a new job yourself as well, thanks for responding !

Hello torchablazed,
Interesting! How I wish I could do that to my boss. But one thing for sure, he will not understand a single word and that's the reason why we always argue in the office. Oh, that's pretty bad for you! So, what happened next? I really want to know his reaction after reading your message!

LOL. I am fine though, still I reap certain degree of amount as a consequence to my action, I was suspended for a couple of days and a lot of tasks was added. I think that is fair enough.

Oooh, that is something. Sure I have sent messages to the wrong people and I actually sent a message to the one who wasnt supposed to read it because he was the one we were texting about. Good thing that we didnt mention any names or anything specific that the one being talked about would think it was about him. Though, he did ask who we were referring to and was really persistent about it. Of course we didnt tell.
Regrets,..hmm, I think that would be always slacking in my previous classes and I think Im still slacking but not that much anymore since Im set on getting to a specific grade. If I made all the extra effort that I could on my previous classes I would be slacking right now but whats done is done. Nothing to do about it anymore except to maybe not make history repeat itself this semester.

Ha!h1!ha!ha!ha! That was so funny! I can't imagine how embarrassed you were and would not know how to look at your Boss eyes! Ha!ha!ha!
That happened to my friend too! She sent a message wrongly to a person who is the subject of her nasty message. She was supposed to send the message to another office mate and she was kind of telling her that she hates the way this lady dresses and she hates the way she flirts with men around but alas she texted the message to the flirting lady herself. Ha!ha!ha!

Sigh, I wish calls would be much cheaper than text messages, that was the worst thing that happened to me... boy, I was thankful though that he is tolerant at the moment otherwise, I need to fold my stuff in the office.

hi, torchablazed
i hate it when that happens. it has happened to me a number of times because my fingers are so fast on my cellphone's keypad that my brain cannot catch up LOL!
one message i wrongly sent that had me mortified was when my lovey-dovey message to my boyfriend (now my husband) was sent to my father! aaaarrrrgggghhh. i still cringe whenever i remember that one. my father never commented on it though.
ya, your boss is really a professional, you can credit him that.
take care and have a nice day!

If this hasn't happened to all of us at least once in our lifetime. I know I got my chance at this experience about a year ago. I was texting a friend about a guy I was dating and their names were so close. You can guess the rest, but I just made up some stupid story and he was none the wiser!!

OMG! this so reminds me of what happened about 3 semesters back in the english class when the teacher called up the class representative and told him to tell his colleagues that the class has been cancelled. and that guy messaged everyone on the cell, INCLUDING the teacher, saying "the *itch has cancelled the class" =D
oh boy! sucks to be that class representative lol

Uh oh... So what happened? Did your boss mention anything about it? I hope you didn't get into much trouble.
But you know what that happened to me as well. Our brain gets so tangled up sometimes . Maybe because the name of your boss was on your mind then you subconsciously selected his name in your phone book. Same thing that happened to me. Anyway, again I hope you didn't get into trouble. happy posting!

Oh torch! I'm so sorry for you! I have done something like
that before too! I know how horrid that can be! I hope you
were able to explain it to your boss! You were just feeling
overwhelmed and you didn't really? mean it? Well I know I
would have gone in there crying (for affect, although I
probably would have really been crying from being scared
sh!tless about losing my job) and trying to explain the best
way that I could! So tell us torch, what did you do and what
did happen? Don't keep us all in suspense!

When he called me, he told me to come to his office for a talk later that day, I wanted the ground to open up and take me away, anyway, when we talk that afternoon, honestly explained to him my side, he though suspended me for a couple of days and added me tasks, I think it is better that way than firing me.

hahaha. It sounds funny now but it happened to me several times. I would try to cancel it immediately but it wasn't successful. I lost a friend over a wrong sent. I had two friends who lived with me temporarily, one was my best friend. The other one was a colleague from work who wasn't very welcome because of her own behavior. My best friend an I would prepare meals, clean the house, share the expenses and go to the market to buy food. My colleague on the other hand prefers to clean her nails, ask my son's nanny to prepare food for her and eat by herself without inviting those who prepared the meals. Worse is she totally made me responsible for her, financially before and after she found a job. And she consumes most of the food we have.
This was the messages that I'm suppose to send to my best friend but sent it to my colleague instead, " Rice bowl (the colleague) will be at the house so I called up the nanny to hide the cake that we bought".
