Cabbage Patch Prices

I took my daughter to the Cabbage Patch Hospital, Babyland, in Cleveland Georgia today. I know the prices in the stores range from $25 - $40. But I was shocked when I heard the prices to "adopt" a baby at the "hospital". One Halloween doll was $108 and another lady was getting one and they said the adoption fee was $240!!!! I about fell out right there. And my daughter was shocked too when she heard the price, luckily she understood that that was TOO much for a doll!!! I told her that is like 2 weeks worth of groceries!

That's outrageous! My oldest was a toddler when Cabbage Patch kids first came out, and even though the retail prices were $25-$50, you couldn't get one for that price anywhere. People were buying them up in lots and selling them for $100+. Since there was no way I was going to pay that kind of money for a doll that my toddler was going to drag around by one arm, I started making my own. She's 25 now and still has one of the "fake" Cabbage Patch kids that I made for her with a purchased head and pattern for the body.

You're such a cool mom. I got a store bought one because my mom doesn't sew that good. Or maybe she lied to me, not sure. I love homemade stuff so much better than store bought.

Awww. Honestly, my youngest kid is now 15 1/2, and of all my accomplishments the one that makes me the proudest is the fact that all of my adult kids think that I'm a cool mom - and so do their friends.

That's so funny my oldest is 12 and the only thing I've heard my son's friends say about me is "you're mom is so hot but man she can be a bytch" lol I almost peed myself laughing when I heard that. I am very strict.

Wow that's pretty crazy! I had no idea they have a Cabbage Patch Hospital and I didn't know they were still popular. I have all boys and they won't play with dolls

i had no idea that there was a Cabbage Patch Hospital..is that like the "mother store" or something?
personally when that whole cabbage patch xmas craze was going on...and seeing news clips of women fighting.and one even TAKING A DOLL FROM A LITTLE GIRL IN LINE TO CHECKOUT!! i though everybody had lost their minds..then came Power Rangers lol!
i know they still sell cabbage patch dolls for about $30 to $40 that ive seen, but ANYTHING over $50 is just stupid! if i went there and they told me the doll would cost me $108 i would toss it to them and laugh in their face! much less $240!!
who in their right mind would even consider paying that much?! oh wait..rich ppl figures.

Wow...one of my stepmom's sisters makes them. She made one for me when I was young but it was lost in moving. I can't believe they charge that much for them. It's good that your daughter was old enough to understand the situation.
