Is it quad core is same with core 2 quad?

Is it quad core is same with core 2 quad? I am confused?

I'm not sure it's the same but as I know for intel, their quad core is consist of 2 dual core. AMD's quad core is the real quad core (4 core instead of 2X 2 core) But intel's quad core performance is far more superior~
