E-books is becoming more and more popular nowadays.] you can read book in front of the computer, you can also read book on your mobilephone, which is very convenient. But I still prefer tingible books. E-books are free and tingible books are becoming more and more expensive. But I still prefer to read tingible books. Whenever I look on the computer screen for too long a time, my eyes would feel uncomfortable, and I can not concentrate my attention on E-books when I am on line. How about you? Do you read more E-book or more tingible books? Which one do you prefer?

Hello, nahhh, a book is a book. Touch the paper, feel it's smell, is something you can't have with an e-book. Book MUST be tangible, and a tangible book is also more useful than an e-book. About the price, you are right, but i guess we can chose the good ones that worth the price we need to pay ;)

yes, can't agree with you more. And sometimes when I read an E-book and find the content is really good, I would go to the books shop and buy one, so that I can read once or more times again. I never read the same E-book twice.

i fully agree with you pierone. Tangible book is more worth than ebook. I am very friendly with my books. Whenever i have time i take out my favourite books, touch them, shuffle the pages remembering about the book, when and where i bought. of course price is a factor.

I'd go for the tangible ones. I'm a bit of the old school when it comes to books and no matter how entertaining the e-book is, I still want to find the physical one.

I usually prefer a Tangible book, because even though E-books are Free to download and read, etc. it is hard to sometimes read the screen for too long, and you might also have to restart over if your Computer updates on you, etc. Yes, books are getting expensive so that is why I try to watch for Sales, or go to places like 1/2 price books etc. where I can get mine cheaper as well.

tangible books are better. you can read them anytime with lesser strain on your eyes. but ebooks have their own advantages.. they mostly come for free.. and they are available on a wide variety of topics. whereas in case of real books, you need to search them in different shops, and you also need to pay a price..lol. but i would prefer tangible books over ebooks.. anytime!

Thanks for sharing. I went to the library this moring wantted to buy a book about economy, after I find that price of the book I choose was very expensive, I decided to download one on the Internet. After 2 hours reading on the Internet, my eyes began to feel unconfortable, and I am so regret that I think I will buy the book from the book shop tomorrow.

A lot of the e-books I would like to read are not free. Most of the 'classics' are, but I like to read more than just those. Also, sitting at the computer for a long time makes my back sore. So I always prefer the tangible books, the ones I can hold in my hand. That way I can pull it out anywhere, in the living room, in the car, and when I pause, I just bookmark it and that is it. And if I'm a remote area with no internet range, I can always have that book with me.

I think the issue of cost of e-books is important too. In many cases, e-books are almost as expensive as printed, regular books -- but this makes no sense when the overall costs of e-books(for printing, shipping, distribution, storage, etc.) clearly have to be less. Why are these costs not passed on to the consumer? For the same money you can just buy a real book and not worry about it disappearing "into the ether."

I'm a reader, so I'll take my reading material in any format I can, whether its a book, an audiobook or an e-book. Although, if I have to rate them by choice, I would prefer the paper copy. There is just something tangible about a book, and the feeling of turning pages. I love the smell of new books, thats why hanging out of bookstores is something I like to do. Although I haven't done much of that lately, because I end up spending far too much money. Audiobooks is my second choice. I get to rest my eyes, and simply listen. Great for commuting or when doing some other chores, and still get some catching up with my "reading" list. Ebooks are last, but if thats the only way I can get hold of a book, i'll take it. The good part about it is I can enlarge the text and that helps my poor eyesight. So yes, books in any form, I'll read them.

Now I usually read books on the computer, for it is easy to find books online. But sometimes I really want to have tangible books, so that I can read them while I am still in bed. Reading real books is a kind of relax, and will not hurt our eyes, but with the tech develops, you can find new books long time before they are pubilished.

Yes, as long as there are on-line readers, there are on line writes too. They write novels on line, one chapter every day, and some readers would pay a visit to their on line novels to read the the updated chapter... Some content can not find from the book shops.

I prefer tangible books. I like to hold them and turn the pages while I read. I like to be able to take them wherever I go in case I have a free moment. I know there are gadgets out there now that allow you to take an electronic book anywhere, but somehow it doesn't seem the same. I also like to see books that I've read on my bookshelf. I like to be able to refer back to them when I please without fear of them disappearing.

I definitely prefer the real thing. I take my books with me to school, on airplanes, to my friends house to read before bed; everywhere, really! I also like having a little library where I can keep all my stories and re-read any of them whenever I'd like. E-books are better for those that prefer scanning through stories quickly, I think. Reading on the computer screen can be more confusing than reading off a page (messing up lines happen more frequently). Another thing, they're harder on the eyes. Yes, they can be irritating to read but that's not the main issue. They leave lasting damage if used excessively. If you want to read a book, I suggest go the traditional way and get a paperback version!

If I print out an ebook I will more likely read it than if I keep it on my computer. I use the library for real tangible books because I used to spend so much money on books. Ebooks are great as long as there is real content. A problem I have found with ebooks, many of them anyway, are just a sales letter in disguise. That's usually the case with many of the free ones. Reading is something I love anyway so ebook, book, I enjoy them both.

Hi, we have something in common, that is we both use library and don't waste money on books. Maybe I should not use waste money, some people do like to collect books and see their number of books increasing in their bookshelf.

I prefer tangible books definitely. But I also like reading some pdf works online, esp some novels in pdf are very cute. And I can't buy every book I read back home.Usually,I will see some plot or introduction of the book online.Maybe sometimes read a bit more online or the whole book.I used to scrolling pages.I saw nearly all comics online. When I finished reading,I will buy the book I think it's ok and I wanna collect it.I love collecting books. It makes me feel excited when I got the book even if I have already read it.Just touch the real paper, smell the paper flavour.Hehe...

I have the same choice to you. And as for books about novel, I prefer to borrow from the library instead of reading PDF on computer. I don't like reading long stories sitting in front of the computers, and I don't like to pay for the novels, becuase I often read novels only once, never go through the same novel books for a second time. Thanks for sharing .

I am old fashioned as far as reading books is concerned. I still prefer real books to e-books and the reasons are many. Firstly there is a certain charm in real books which cannot be replaced by ebooks. Secondly you can curl up with a real book cozily on a sofa or a hammock or stretch yourself lazily on the beach and after reading a few pages you can keep the open book on you chest or on your etes and go to sleep. You can also munch some snacks while turning the pages and reading which you can`t do when reading an ebook. As you have mentioned reading an ebook can give trouble to your eyes as you need to keep peering at the screen and concentrating. There is a certain magic in reading a book and you can also remove a book which you have not read for many years from your cupboard, dust it off and start reading. Old books which are in the cupboard have a certain musty smell which is quite pleasant and besides one can treasure them if they have been gifted to you by someone special like maybe an old flame.do you agree?

Hi, thanks very much for your response. I can see that you read my discussion and answered very carefully. I appreciate that. I though it would be more easier for people to form a better habit to read real books, but according to you, it seems not the case at all. reading while eating is not a good habit, and if there's any food I like beside me, I would not concentrate totally on the book.

I prefer tangible books too but I admit that there is a place for E-books especially if the tangible books are unavailable however,I would prefer to print out the E-book so I read it's pages rather than on the computer. There is just something about having the book in your hand where you can mark the pages that somehow makes it advantageous to the E-book for me -call me sentimental if you must

Same to most of others, and same to me too. Even in such a high techonological era, real books still exert a great importance to us. There are too many advantages that an e-book can never compass.

Hello, I prefer ebooks especially if they are free of charge for their ease of accessability. I dislike tracking down an audio copy of a book I want to read. If I can read it with jaws, why not?

haha, you are special because in this discussion, becuase rare people here prefer e book than real book. It is common that different people in different ocassion prefer different way to read. I read ebooks on bus, I read real books at home.

Well, it depends on the length of the book. If I have to read a short book (less than 300 pages), maybe I prefer reading the ebook and dont waste any money. But if the book haves more than 300 pages, I prefer avoid blindness and buy the real book.

It is true, when the article we read is just a page or two, we may don't bother to read on line. When read long novels, better read real book. But when I read something too long, i would fall into sleep.

yes, exactly the same to my ocassion. I have around six hundred e books in my computer, and i seldom read then on computer, either buy a real book or to print them out is better than reading on computer.
