we all know that AVG is free and that's what i use mainly because i can save money & i trust this anti-virus. there's no problem in installing it too. & believe me it can detect trojan virus. it happened to me already. here's the story, i have a vista ultimate & my avg is currently not scanning (coz i have set a particular time everyday). going back, i was surfing my regular websites that time. i found a webnsite where i can video stream. it looked decent but i didn't know then that it's a harmful site. next thing happened is that my computer got the blue BIOS screen. knowing that blue screen somewhat a warning for me, i turned off the laptop & turned it on again. it looked normal again but i immediately ran AVG to scan my computer even before the schedule of it. after the san i found out that it has caught trojan virus. i removed it & my pc is good as new. now i'm careful on sites that i open. hope you will find a suitable AV for you & your computer needs.

Not sure if my answer is 100% correct but here goes.
Just over a month ago I was hit with a trojan the stopped my system from doing backups. I couldn't even copy a file from my computer to anywhere else.
I had WinXP which worked great until that happened. I also had virus checker and adaware detection, but a trojan still got through.
I ended up buying a new hard drive and installing Vista. Now nothing installs without a dialog box coming up asking if I should continue.
I can be annoying as I am still installing all software I had before the trojan so I was asked to continue about a million times.
I have a firewall and virus checker installed as well, but I had those installed before.
BTW: Once I had Vista install and my virus checker AVG, I connected my old drive and ran AVG over the entire drive. It found the trojan in the boot record. I was able to get all my files back but it cost me about a month of headaches.

Hi I use norton virus software and it is brill it just stops anything from getting in I also use malware as a back up now, that will locate and get rid of anything if it was to get through. I have never had anything on my pc until a few weeks ago I downloaded something thinking it was my pc wanting to update something and whatever it was installed a program on my pc that was sending it mad, I couldn't close windows or tabs they just kept popping back up, it wasn't a trojan well at least I don't think it was an anti-virus software that had installed itself and now wanted me to buy it, which just wasn't going to happen so downloaded malware and it got rid of it straightaway, Norton had stopped the trojan but malware got rid of the program.

Yes yes, there are many of them. Well i also used to have attacks like these always . There were times when i used to format my computer every week becasue of too much spyware and all. WEll but since 5 months i havent formatted my comp because i havnt gotten any spyware. I'll tell you. Go Download Antivir avira. you'll get anywhere. Its free and very powerful. But make this sure always update it. And then only scan it. It will clean your pc as it is new. Well Do try it atleast once. It wont disappoint you, It made me happy :). Happy mylotting ::)

You might try Stopzilla. I think there is a small fee but well worth the price. It has stopped so many things from coming in.
