Hey Everyone.
Of Course everyone will have a feel that their religion is the best among the others. I just wonder if there is anyone who finds friends only from their religion!!!
Is there people who are so much religious??? Or have you seen any such people in your real life??
I am not a religious person. I equally treat every religious people. How about you???

Like you, I am not religious and I have respect for people from every background. I have, however, met people who are not like this.
I am born Muslim but am an Atheist. I had a close friend once (who was Muslim) who thought the reason I wasn't put in Islamic class in my school was because I'm Christian. When she found out that that wasn't the case, her family told her that we couldn't hang out anymore. I remember we had a long phone conversation sometime that week where I argued (in vain) trying to get her to understand that just because I'm not religious doesn't mean that we shouldn't be friends.
The 'banishment' didn't last long, however, it was enough to leave an impact on me. I don't think I'll ever forget that day of torment and how some religious extremists would only allow their kids to be friends with those who believe in God.

hi there,
being religious doesntean we got to demean other religions, when i encountered problems since I was a teenager I started becoming religious but i don't argue with anybody else's religion because i believe that everybody has their own beliefs and has the right to choose.:)

Yes I am a religious person. I am a regular precipitant in the rituals of my religion and go to the temple at least once a week. One thing that may shock you, I don't believe in God. Don't assume that this makes me a hypocrite. My religion does not require a belief in God.

people may belong to a religion. but none of them need to be religious. that is the truth. religion and religious are two different things.
i am away from religion, god, devil etc. god and devil slammed their doors on me. both said they dont want to do anyting with me. i cause them immense trouble. both of them have a good fan following and they do not want to lose it. they fear i will corrupt their followers.

Yes, we should respect our religion, but remember that religion is now above humanity. I have lots & lots of friends outside my religion & infact, my best friend is a Christian (I am Hindu). Besides, some of my good friends are Muslims & Jains, so I really don't make friends only in my religion.
Now, those who are totally religious, I just want to ask them a question that if they see a person dying on road who is of different religion, then will they help him due to humanity of not? Or putting it other way if a person helps you in your bad times & he turns out to be of different religion, then will you not return him the favours only bcoz he was from different religion???

Yes,Vidhyavini.I am a religious person. And one of my intrests is to learn about religion.I have learned a lot about different religions and cultures. And I am person who is regularly doing my prayers.
That does not mean that I cannot have friends from other religions.I have a lot of friends and most friends of mine are not belonging to my religion.I respect all the religions and their teachings. That's what I learned from my own religious lessons.I have friends who drink, smoke and do other things which I can't agree with, as my religion does not allow these things.Still, I have no hatred to those friends.I just hate the act they do.Afterall they are my friends.
Being a religious person does not allow you to be isolated from other people. All the Religions are for humans and we need to get along with other fellow human beings.WE can't judge any persons purity when he is alone. We can judge him only if he lives in a community. If you can survive all the temptations of evil when you are living alone in a mountain does not make any sense. It's not a big thing. If you can get along with people of different kinds and if you can also keep your religious culture, I think that is what we call the real prayer.
Anyhow I have seen many people who get themselves isolated from the people of other religions.I feel pitty about them! And it is also very dangerous to the country and the world.
Try to learn about the person next to you, only then you can love him.

Hello everyone,
I am somewhat religious. I think it is best not to argue with other faiths. Everyone has the right ot their own lives.
I have friends from all faiths. I too live in the bible belt and know that often many religious people are close-minded. However, this is not always the case, and it is easier to maek friends if one does not bring up religion.

I can't say I am really a religious person because I don't go to church often however, I do make sure to say my prayers at night. As for friends, I really don't care on what religion they are in as long as we are giving proper respect to religion of each other. Also, I am learning from them like a friend who is a Muslim. I ask him why they let males marry more than once and he explained it to me on how this is related to the status and others.
We should never judge a person because of a religion. We are all entitled to our own faith and no matter what our religion is, what is important is that we are practicing it and living a healthy life.

It actually very much depends. Many people try to find others with a perspective. Consider a man who wishes to marry in this point in his life, and his family wishes him to marry a girl of their religion or caste, he will look out to make friends of the same religion!
Even parental pressure can affect things. Some parents want their kid to be friends only with people who have same thinking, (rare, but does happen).
Another case in which it happens is, when in countries like Pakistan, which is monotheistic (following once religion), now suppose you live here, and a point comes in your life when you go to another country, say USA, you obviously ry to find people who are similar to you in one or many ways.
At times, things are totally religion driven, like caste system in hinduism, due to which many people had to (and still have to) face repression.
At times, economical conditions create barriers between social groups, so one can count that too.
Btw I am an atheist ;D

I am from a pure catholic family, my parents teach us to attend the mass every sunday. I became I member of Singles for Christ Chrisian Program. I found so many friends and a sincere people there. I found peace and love since then, as of now I'm still convincing my hubby to join the couples for christ group too!

Hi vidhyavini. I'm totally not religious. Frankly speaking, i don't know most of my friends' religions. We seldom talk about this because it's not the main reason to be friends. I respect all religions unless they are not harmful. Every one has their own beliefs and thoughts, we only can share our experiences.
Hmm.. is it religous if someone find their partners only from their religion? I have few friends are like this, i'm quite confused about this behaviour or thoughts.

I live in the bible belt. Sadly enough, most of the people I know and meet are incredibly close minded. Christians hang out with Christians. I don't think I know any person who is truly faithful to their religion that has friends not of their religion. Personally, I'm what i like to call a "Free Believer." And i will admit that it is much easier to stick with people who are the same way.
