is there a cure for Alzheimer's disease?

last september i have noticed my widowed mother showing some lapses of memory. we thought she will recover with proper rest. she used to walk and work a lot. however, instead of recovering, her memory lapses worsen. she cannot anymore recognize the surroundings and oftentimes mistook our town as a place from her distant past. she cannot remember recent events but can remember the people from her past. do you think there is still hope for her to recover her memory? is there a cure for Alzheimer's disease?

I think there is prevention for Alzheimers but not a cure.
Sounds like she's happy though, living in the past.

There is no actual cure - only medications and treatments that will help slow the progression of the disease.
