how long have you learning a foreigh language?

hi ,,,,we know learning a new language need more time and energy .and everone should study harder than ever before,,,for example ,my second language is janpenes ,,and i leart about 1 years ,and i have master the basic skills ..
and i want to know ,how long have you learning a foreigh language ,,,,
i year
2 years 'or 3 years or may be several month ,or longer time ...i mean you have captured the basic skills and have some simply dailogue with others ,,,,

it takes time for sure.. i have been trying to learn french.. but it looks hard.. i am not really onsistent with my practise and i am just on level 1 after 6 months :(

well, Ive been studying english language since I was in Grade 1 until now. LOL. But Ive noticed that i still need a lot of learning to polish on my english grammar. But Im happy that at least, I can express myself in english better now than before :D
