What is the greatest lesson for you -- a personal lesson you've learned from events in your life?
For me, I think it would be learning that I must trust my Lord, Jesus, for everything I need, everything I want, and for every moment of every day, whether things seem good or bad.
It's a deep lesson and one that I find needs repeating sometimes! But I can definitely say that I have learned that God is in control of all, and even when things happen that seem awful to me, there is some reason that He allowed it, and some reason He will use it in my life.
Please tell you great life lesson -- it doesn't have to be religious, but there is no way mine can't be.

Well the greatest lesson I have learned today is never rush things. When commititing into something, I will make it sure now that I will think 100 times before engaging into anything.

I have learned so many valuable lessons in life. I guess the most important lesson I just learned over the past few years. I learned to be truly happy in life one must first be happy with themselves. I have always heard this but never really believed it until the past two years when I have gone through some majors changes myself. I have noticed as I become happier with myself and what I have achieved in life I become truly happier with life. With that I have also learned how to handle stressful situations better and that taking the high road is always the way to go. We can disagree with someone and as long as we do it in a respectful manner it is alright.

Excellent! That's exactly the lesson everyone should learn..Human beings tend to whine and crib and look after those aspects which they lack. They always forget that Lord has given things in abundance. If we are grateful to those things we achieved, I think we will always be happy. This is a very good message for all!

i think i will post a quote that i live by because i think its relevant to this discussion. i've definitely learned from my own mistakes and whatnot but i've also learned a lot from other people.
"Any fool can learn from their own mistakes, but only the wise can learn from others."

I suppose that would be to stay active and not passive! What do I mean? Well, I understand now that, if you want to achieve anything in life then you have to take small bits of action in order to work towards it! I guess I used to live in cookoo land! I used to think that everything was coming to me, that it would be handed to me on a plate! Well, I guess I took a reality check! Nothing is for free in life and so, I take small bits of action in order to achieve want I want in life. This seems to be working for me now and I hope to maintain this mindset for the rest of my days. I do say some prayers from time to time too, I find that these help me to remain sane! Andrew

I feel that we keep on learning things and lessond right until the last day of our life. But i ave learnt that nothing in this world is permanent and that things keep changing, even our feelings etc; depending on different influences and situations.I feel that the wisest thing a person can do is to go with the flow, if one stands against it, you may get ruffled or swept away depending on the force...

The greatest lesson i have learned in my life,
If you have started a thing don't give up easily but rather complete it fully
and also if you get a better option while doing a current thing do no
stop it on the half way but rather complete it fully then do the others
no matter what important work you have.
(the above thing i learned from my pet "Bruno" he is so loyal in doing his
duties,i.e.,while eating a biscuit after half done even if i give he doesnt eat that bone but rather he finishes the biscuit fully then only he touches the bone)

My greatest lesson: hhh... this is so true... DONT TRUST TOO MUCH, DONT TRUST EASILY.
I lost a lot of money (I mean really lot of lot of money, I can buy a great house with that money) because I trust my friend too much. Hiks... an expensive lesson...
But yeah I think you can trust Jesus, and no matter how much you trust him, I think it would never be enough.

Like you I have learned that my faith is the most important lesson I have learned. Unfortunately I had to learn it the hard way. The Lord is the one constant good influence and mankind is the last. In a nutshell my most important lesson comes under the heading of trust.

I've also had to learn the hard way! In fact, sometimes I still have to re-learn the hard way!

That would definately be it! Having Jesus as my Savior. Without him, my life is not worth living. And the Word of God says, people will come against you because you stand for Him...I say bring it on!

"Be careful what you ask for..." Seriously, I agree with you. There is nothing in life as important as our Savior. I like that old hymn, I Surrender All

The biggest lesson I have learnt is not to keep spending money that I do not have because it just makes for a miserable stress ridden life. The other lesson I have learnt is that the grass is definately not greener on the other side no matter how tempting something might look.

It was when I was trying to hide things from my girlfriend then later when I realised that she loves me extremely, then I felt so touched and realised that I was doing wrong. I learnt a very big lesson that day that we must always love the one who love us, not the one whom we love.

Hi Shrink,
Those are the exact words I live by. Aside from what you just expressed so well, I am beginning to think I have not yet learned the great lesson He is trying to teach me. During this lesson that I am in the midst of, It seems to be more of what I have been through most of my life but this is first time I have doubted my Faith. My hubby has been out of work for a year and a half and I am home because of a disability. Those rhings initself are not the reasons for my doubt. It's everything that is compounding daily because of it. There is a lesson that I guess I have yet to learn and I am struggling every moment to figure out what He wants me to see and learn. I will never give up but I get so close to the edge it scares me. You asked! Hugs

I understand completely. I didn't mean to say I have "arrived" -- this is a lesson
I think we have to keep learning over and over. I am in a situation very similar to yours right now, and yes, it is SO HARD to trust.
Sometimes the "trusting" is more like desperation because there is nowhere else to turn, rather than a strength like we see in the Apostle Paul's assurance.
It's important to tell God our frustrations and tell Him our fears. I am a firm believer in telling Him everything -- even if I'm feeling angry at Him. I don't mean in a nasty or irreverent way, but just Lord I am feeling angry at You, and then on to discuss it with Him. He will never fail to honor this and to help guide you to a stronger faith.
If you want to talk more, send me a message! You can email me from the link on my profile page to my website.

Thanks shrink for the best response but mostly for the words of encouragement. You know, the people from mylot are good for the soul, especially people who care so much like you and other really caring people I have met and to continue to meet here. I'll probably take you up on the pm thing. Thanks sweetie.
