Morning alarm bell.....Do you sincerely get up immediately?

Or go off to sleep again. I have this problem. I usually find it very difficult getting up in the morning with the alarm clock. I stay in bed thinking I 'll get a while later and most of the times fall asleep again. Not to mention how I have to rush almost daily. How about you all? Do you get up with the alarm bell? If not then who wakes you up? Do you have any suggestion how to wake up on time?

Thankfully I don't have to use an alarm clock. My internal clock wakes me up around the same time every day even on weekends. That time is around 5:30am so it gives me plenty of time to get ready for work.

lol. I can't help it . Once in a while I will sleep in but never past 8am. And that once in a while doesn't happen often, just after a late night or if I'm not feeling well. I do get a lot done on weekend mornings. I have 3 small children and once they get up, my chores are put on hold.

There is only one way I know of to get up fresh and alert on time in the morning and that is to get to bed early enough to get a full night's sleep. That is often hard to do, but then I always awaken just before the alarm and lie there planning my day for a few seconds until it goes off and then I get up. If it was not possible to go to bed on time, then if the alarm wakes me up, I am disoriented and just want to fall back asleep. Then, as you say, the whole day is usually a rush, because onces things spin out of control, it is very hard to get back on track. With enough sleep, I pop up all alert in the morning and the day goes well.

You are so right drannhh. Going to bed on time is the best way to overcome this problem. Your efficiency is also the highest if we get proper and enough sleep.

It is really hard for me to get up in a morning especially when it is cold. I have two alarms that I set to go off when the first one goes off I then have ten minutes to just lay there and chill out a bit. When the second one goes off I know that I then have to get up!

I use my mobile phone as an alarm clock because it has a really loud alarm. During the beginning of the school year, I would wake up no problem, however, now that it's been a few months, I've gone back to my old, lazy ways of sleeping an extra ten-fifteen minutes. (I set my alarm clock an extra fifteen minutes early now though so I can snooze in that time no problem. xD) Some days my mom will come to my doorway and remind me that I have to get ready for school, then I get up almost immediately. I don't have any suggestions on how to get up on time really. =S I think it's more about if you want to. I don't mind waking up early because my mom's friend drives me if I get up and get ready by a certain time; it saves my mom a car trip and it's better for the environment, no? ;)

Setting the clock a little early than required is also a good idea. How effective that'll be for me,I can't say that. Hahahahaha..

I have always needed an alaram to get up in the morning. First of all, I used to use alarm clock & on first alarm I used to get up, but now I use mobile as alarm & when the alarm rings in the morning I snooze it nearly 5 to 10 times & end up getting late by half or one hour than the expected time. But, now I am used to keeping my alarm one hour earlier. LOL!!!

My alarm is my mobile phone. If it's ringing, I will directly press snoooze! hehehe... But usually it keeps me awake after the first one ringing, so when it rings again, I immediately wake up. If I'm too tired, usually I wont wake until someone calls me.

Heck no! I use my wife's mobile phone as an alarm to get me out of bed in the morning and the snooze button gets such a workout each and every time that I am amazed it hasn't been worn away! lol. It has ten minute intervals and I use it at least three times each morning before reluctantly dragging myself out of bed. The only way to ensure we wake up refreshed and on time each day is to go to bed earlier in the first place; but it just isn't easy for many of to do this unfortunately. Sounds great in theory anyways!

O sure it sounds great in theory and very very difficult to follow. Its amazing isn't it? That though every morning we have to face it, but that doesn't seem like a strong enough factor to make us sleep early. And BTW why your wife's mobile phone,if I may ask?

Now days I get up using my internal alarm clock. I seem to wake up at 5am no matter what time I went to bed the night before. When I did use an alarm clock, I often had the same trouble as you are describing. So I put my alarm clock all the way on the other side of the room. That way I have to get up, walk across the room, and turn it off. When I get up, the hardest part is over. I never did have a problem after that.

It is a very good idea,no doubt AmbiePam. Only thing I should wake up to put off.

Oh yes i get up immediately after the alarm bell rings. My schedue in the mornign is very tight. In fact i have 4 alarm bells in teh morning. firt to get up, second for me to finish my breathing exercises, the third one for finishing my yoga exercises the fourth one for tea and the fifth one to remember to take the keys while going to office. If one gets delayed time for the rest is reduced.

I sincerely get up ... sometimes. I have my alarm far away from my bed so it isn't in hand's reach also, so I have to get off and turn it off. Then, I end up being up anyways, no point in hitting snooze. I would be in big trouble not waking up on time because I will probably not get on a bus that will get near school on time. I hope you solve your problem soon!

NO! lol I'm not a morning person either. Whenever the alarm goes off 99% of the time I just press the znooze button and cherish 10minutes more of sleep. Then is goes off again and the snooze button is pressed. This goes on until almost an hour has passed and when I realize how much time I wasted I rush off to shower, etc. Sometimes when I now that I really need to get up on time I put my alarm somewhere away from my bed where I can't reach it and have to get up to turn it off. That way I'd somehow be awake. Or, I'd set it an hour before I really have to get up lol I hate alarms lol

My watch alarm doesn't wake me up, unfortunately, because it's too short. I used to have a rooster alarm but I had to get rid of it because it was way too agressive *Serious*. It used to get louder unless you stood up to turn it off, and if you didn't it got *really* loud and it didn't wake up only me, but my parents as well, and it wouldn't surprise me if it reached the neighbours. xD My mum wakes me up right now, but I have to admit I don't get up immediately. She has to poke me a few times (literally) until I'm conscious that I actually have to stand up and get ready for school. If you have problems with your alarm clock, I would be more than happy to give you my rooster one if your neighbours don't mind. xD Or get a similar one. I *guarantee* that it will work like a charm.

Hahahahah. Thanks for the kind offer Zezloler. My neighbours will mind it no doubt, but I think I'll have to get an alarm clock like yours. We get so tired physically too, that is why we do not get up by the softer bells. Like drannhh said, sleeping early is what needs to be followed.

I absolutely adore the creator of the snooze button on alarm clocks. When I woke up to alarm clocks I would snooze at least once every morning. I am terribly spoiled now. I live with an early riser and if I have a reason to wake up at a specific time I leave him a note for him by the coffeepot. He often wakes me with a cup of coffee in his hands. I know, I know.... I said I am spoiled!!

Hello Daffodil20, I have the same problem with you before but now I'm used to it already. Try it, it might work for you too. Since I'm always having a problem of waking up on time, I see to it that I'm sleeping early at night. So when my clock alarm I can get up immediately. Or maybe you can advance your clock for ten to 15 minutes so you can still wake up on time. This way, you don't need to rush or worry of being late almost everyday. I'm totally depending of my alarm in waking up.

Yes, I agree fully robert. Advancing or setting the alarm ten to fifteen minutes early is a very effective solution. Thanks.

Hello Daffodil. When I have to work the next day, I always set my alarm clock on my radio at 6:30 a.m. Then the radio starts to broadcast. I will listen to the news on bed when I am not wide awake or even if I am awake, I will still lie a few minutes for the news being broadcast before getting up. But at noon, I set my cell phone alarm to wake me up. It is sometimes hard for me to get up after the ringing of the bell or the broadcasting of the news because I have not slept enough. But I have to get up for my work. Take care, friend.

I usually get up when my alarm goes off. I'm usually awake before it starts and I just lay there until I hear it. Though there are times I set it up again to go off 15-30 minutes later. I try to get at least 7 hours of sleep. I've noticed that just as long as I get that much, I feel rested and don't have to drag myself out of bed. Just try thinking positive thoughts when you go to sleep the night before and hopefully the first thing you'd think of when your alarm wakes you are are those same thoughts and hopefully, you'll also be in a more positive mood that will make you excited for your day and will help make you get up right away.

I'm like you, I just don't take the alarm clock seriously. I just think that another ten minutes isn't going to make a difference, and why get up? I am always on time for school somehow, I'm not going to be late. I don't really think realistically about it. It really is a problem!
