Have you ever seen a pirated movie?

My husband works in a not so good neighborhood. There are a couple guys that come into his store on a regular basis trying to sell pirated movies. Usually the quality is awful, sometimes it's in a different language, or there are subtitles in a different language.
But sometimes the movies are good quality. My husband bought 2 pirated movies in the past, Happy Feet, and Fantastic 4 Silver Surfer. Both weren't that great of quality, so we ended up buying the real DVD when it came out as well.
Whenever his co-workers buy a movie we want to see, we might borrow it. But usually we will buy the DVD once it comes out as well, if we liked it enough.
Have you ever watched a pirated movie? Have you ever bought one?

No I have never seen or bought a pirated movie. I've heard that they are pretty bad quality and wouldn't want to risk it.

Some of them can be decent quality. We've downloaded some on the computer before, which was free so it didn't matter if the quality was awful or not.
Luckily hubby works in an electronics store, so they will test the DVD's before they buy them.

He's the manager, so long as the big wigs aren't in the store, he can do whatever he wants, lol. Sometimes it pays to be the boss.

The ones we buy or borrow from co-workers are the ones that are still in theaters. The movies are usually only $5 a piece, so it's definitly cheaper to buy a pirated version than to see it in theaters. It's sort of just to tide us over until we can buy the actual DVD, or rent it instead of seeing it in theaters.

Truth? We have them all the time! Unless it is a really special one that we want to add to a collection we never buy the real thing. Where we get them though the guy does them really well and they are as good as the real thing, good quality, great sound and perfect for the kids. Oh and they cost next to nothing to buy.

If you include "shared" that is downloaded movies then yes I have watched many! I was surrounded by teenagers for five or six years. They just loved to hook their externals up to my laptop, then to the big screen TV. Bodies everywhere, watching movies, eating popcorn. I don't know how, but most were really clear. I can only assume the kids have perfected this art LOL

Whether downloaded or purchased off the street, it's hard to get a clear picture. Most of them look like they've been video taped in a theater, sometimes you get people standing up in front of the screen, and sometimes it stops in the middle so the person can replace batteries or tape or something. It's a pain, but it still beats the prices of a movie theater. You pretty much get the same issues in theaters too, sometimes worse.

I like it because it at least gives us a preview of the movie, so that we can wait until it comes out on DVD. We don't go to theaters anymore because of the 5 kids, but we have a 62 inch TV, so it's just as good to watch at home as in theaters.

I'm sure i probably have watched one. my brother in law has a pretty extensive dvd collection and a lot just have the names written on them so i assume they are pirated. i don't remember what the quality was like though. i've never bought a pirated movie. i don't buy movies much period.
