i've watched MAX PAYNE and i have a Question

Hello everyone, I just watched MAX PAYNE last night at the theater, i liked it very much, but i'm not quite sure why,because it's a good movie or because i'm a big fan of the game. I'd like to remind those who don't know that the movie "MAX PAYNE" is based on the pc action mafia game "MAX PAYNE". Well i loved the game very much.I was looking forward to watch the movie, and i had a lot of expectations. I can't say i was disappointed at all, because Mark Wahlberg presented an excellent performance, and played the character so well. And the story was different from the game's but had somethings in common. But there was a couple of things i didn't understand. So for those who watched the movie i ask and highlight the following details: 1) Why Max Payne didn't recognize the connection that his partner found in the beginning earlier? it seemed so obvious. I think his partner's death(and existence in the movie) is just to add to the Max Payne character: no one likes him! 2) How come the Bad Guy just moments before trying to kill Max Payne, he saved him from a 100% dead situation? why save him if you want him dead? I didn't understand that part. My only explanation is that, he wanted him to die in a particular way. Other than that, everything was great! i really enjoyed the movie and had fun, and i recommend all those who played the game to watch it, and those who watched it to play the game!
