Is a cucumber a fruit??

I am curious as to whether a cucumber is a fruit or a vegetable... I was just responding to a discussion wondering about tomatoes. A tomato is a fruit and the reason I was taught that is that it contains seeds. Cucumbers also have seeds... so I'm assuming that they are also a fruit correct?

Cucumber is a fruit, of the vine but is classified as a vegetable. However, just as tomatoes are fruits and have been classified as vegetables it's all about taxes. The import duty and taxes on vegetables is higher than these same taxes on fruit. Tricky politician that passed that piece of legislation on tomatoes first. Botanically and scientifically these are both fruits

Oh this is very tricky, theya re just doing it to have a small taxes from importing fruits and vegestables. These makes people confused of which is which. But the mean thing now, it's clarified as a fruit. Happy posting.

I think just like a tomato a cucumber can be either. I'm sure this discussion will be discussed by people for many years to come, the same as for many years before now people have been discussing it. I think it is going ot be one of the questions which will never get a sound reply and will remain unaswered for ever
