Should there be more violence on TV?

People are always campaigning for less violence on TV, on the theory that people blindly copy what they see on screen - not an argument that I've ever found convincing. It's an unfortunate fact of human nature that everyone has a certain amount of aggression in their systems - some more than others, but everyone has a violent side, so it could be argued that it needs a safe outlet of some kind. So it could be argued that watching a few murders and punch ups on the telly could give people a way of purging some of their aggression without having to engage in violence for real. What do you think, am I talking sense, or shouldn't I be starting topics first thing in the morning, before my brain's started working? ;-)

It doesn't realy matter what's on tv. It's all about the parents and how they raise their kids. I grew up listening to richard pryor jokes and watching movies that I probably shouldn't have been wacthing since I was 10. I never went to school and addressed any of my teachers in a disrespectful way form something that I either saw or heard on some television show. If you look at tv and listen to the radio these days, the language is out of control on most of these shows. I don't know if there should be more violence on tv or not. If you put the same amount of violence on tv the same as in the movies, what will be the point of gin to the theaters any more. They might as well just start putting everything on tv and shut down the cinemas. It's all about the parents monitoring what the kids watch and making sure they know right from wrong. I think that's who this conversation is for, the kids in my opinion. Any adult that acts out what they see on the big screen has problems. Everyone has an angry side I do agree. I think we all get a rush when we see two people going at it on tv or in the movies in a very vicious fight scene.I think it does sort of allow us to take out our anger without actually puttting it into action. We kind of sit there an imagine it as oursleves being the ones doing the fighting. But going out and imitating what you see is a whole differnt story. What about that movie Fight Club a few yrs ago. How many people went out and picked a fight with someone for no reason after they saw that movie?

Absolutely. Reality and fantasy are two different things. I've always liked those old Republic serials, like "King of the Rocket Men" and "Radar Men from the Moon". Those were full of action, with a vicious punch up in almost every episode, but I never felt the need to break a chair over anyone's head!

yes i think you are right ,,
te very danger of tv lies in the fact that viewer takes no initiative ,he makes no chiice and exercises no jughment ,,so many violence on tv ,and people force to accepted programme from the tv station ,,,,most of programme are bad and they not keep pace with the high damand of viewers and do not maintain high quality,,
what the viewers receives from television is nothing but second-hand experience ,he is completely cut off from the real world ,,
so i think we need the safe and health programme,,and less violence,,

I think you misunderstood the point I was trying to make (which is the opposite of your position) but thanks for replying.
