The eggplant was domesticated in Southeast Asia more than 4'000 years ago. It belongs to the same family as the poisonous deadly nightshade...So why do people keep on eating this kind of vegetable? Infact i like eggplant especially when it is mixed with the egg and then fried it. Comments are accepted on this topic..

Hi perla,
yes i've heard about poisonous symptoms of nightshade fruits, for example potato, tomato, capsicum/pepper. It is said that they can irritate the stomach lining and causing gastritis. For persons who are sensitive to them it could also worsen arthritis.
But it has also positive health effects like reducing high blood cholesterol. It can block the formation of free radicals and new researches show that it is effective in the fight against cancer.
I like it cooked so that the bitter taste is disappeared and then eat with rice and other vegetables.
