Any suggestions....I want to get some books for my bf to help him out getting through some rough times he's goin through at the moment but with me not being a Christian I really have no ideas...though I have looked at some titles...
could any of you suggest some AND/OR have you read any of these and what did you think of them?
FACING YOUR GIANTS by Max Lucado
God's Power to Change Your Life & God's Answers to Life’s Difficult Questions by Rick Warren
HELP ME I'M STRESSED, HELP ME I'M WORRIED AND HELP ME I'M DEPRESSED
by Joyce Meyer
those are the ones I've found so far that are possiblities but would like to hear from those of you who've read them....and of course any suggestions would be wonderful thanks...Keep in mind I'm not looking for anything too textbookie if that makes sense since he wouldnt be able to get into them I dont think...Books that are more personal and whatnot are IMO the best bet for him..
any help would be great thanks ahead of time..

The Infinite Atonement by Tad Callister is the most comprehensive and inspiring study of the Atonement of Jesus Christ I have ever read. I highly recommend it for any Christian who wants to get a better understanding of who Christ is and what He truly did for us.
We all know that He paid the price for sin, but that is just part of it. Christ's atonement paid the price for the fall of Adam. In other words, not just the sins we commit (although that alone makes the atonement the single most important event in the history of mankind), but the other things that resulted from the fall also. Hate, illness, injury, sadness, war, and every other horror the mind of man can conjure.
It is also very well written with an easy reading style that never talks over the heads (or down to) the readers.
I pray for these hard times to pass for your bf, but more importantly, I pray that he and those around him learn what you all can from the experience.

Hi ravenladyj! I can't tell you that I've read any of these
books but, I can tell you what I do know. I have heard
Joyce Meyer speak a few times on tv and she is quite inspiring.
I think your bf might like her book. I have also heard
Joel Osteen speak many times and he is a great speaker and
has quite a few books out. One is "Your Best Life Now" and
his latest is "Become A Better You". I have been inspired
by Joel many times myself. He is a very positive person and
that is conveyed with every thought and word. I would recommend
choosing his books above all for your bf. They are easy and
pleasant reading and will definitely give off very positive
thoughts. I personally am not into religion as such, but I
do enjoy Joel Osteen because of his power of positive speaking
and it is easy to listen to him. He doesn't "preach" as some
tv preachers do or I would not be able to listen to him for
a second!
