they would say that your art sucks because it doesn't look like "anime"
they would say that your name sucks because it's not Japanese oriented.
they would say that your ideas are lame because it's not the typical high-school life with a weird twist and it's not centered usually in tokyo.
damn you all japanophiles...^^
seriously, some japanophiles are beginning to be a pain.
if you're gonna cram all the japanophiles in japan, the island would literally sink.

I guess they are just one of those narrow minded audiences that can't be swayed out from what they really prefer. Then again, the things you mentioned are just among the shoujo or shounen category when it comes to manga. Though the name not sounding or close to those who live in the land of the rising sun. Actually, there are other varieties of anime when it comes to art.

yes, I'm aware of that and unfortunately I can't edit my previous post.
oh well. I'm really concerned with the people around me..especially teens, well, I am seventeen. But, i've been greatly dismayed by the narrow-minded people who thinks that our art sucks and japanese is cool.
They worship it. And it annoys me that I'd wish they were real japanese and would just leave us alone. We don't need ungrateful people anymore.

Yeah, it is indeed disappointing.. well, they do have their preferences but, they shouldn't deem other alternatives as inferior. One of the commendable artworks that I could recall would be those that accompanied Ibong Adarna and Florante at Laura text books with illustrations that I could still remember during my high school. Other similar works could be found on local tabloids since broad sheets would have more than local comic strips in them.
Well, if reality won't change their interests when the time comes, I guess they are rich enough to keep such interests and turn them into a hobby (^_^")
If only our local comic industry gets more publicity and recognition, it might even at least stir a sense of patriotism.

i think it's perfectly fine to like japanese culture, but to the extent that japanophiles exhibit some form of ethnic superiority just scares me. i personally like japanese culture, but i would not go to the extent to condemn others for not being japanese enough.
