Not sure how you are being affected in your homeland. Do you tend to save more money instead of making purchases right now? I noticed that many people are saving up their money right now, but still, during promotion period, they are spending like crazy to stock up stuff. What about you?

We are definitely trying to spend less money. But, I must admit that we are not big spenders anyway. The US economy is pretty scary right now, so it pays to be safe and secure by spending less and saving every cent you can. When we want something, we try to shop around and get a good deal on it, which is actually easier these days. I guess the stores want to sell something, so they drop their prices on some items.

I just wish that the bad situation will be over soon. I could imagine what the states would be like right now. *sighs*

Hello, stranger! I don't only save more money now, I have ALWAYS saved more money. I am a budget oriented kind of person and I just never go over budget. Not ever. It is a wonder to me that opeople who spend public money aren't more like me. Go figure.
But I make a low-ball estimate of how much money is coming in and one of the categories is "savings" but then I also have sub-categories of which special things some of the savings are earmarked for, such as an emergency fund from which unexpected auto repairs or eyeglasses or other big ticket items could come from. Another subcategory is travel expense. If these savings are not spent one year, lthey roll over into a discretionary spending account for the next year. Things that are not absolutely necessary come out of that fund, not out of our regular budget. We don't spend high when times are good and go without when times are bad. We stay on an even keel all of the time.
That, I think, is called conservative spending.

Very organized! That's something I still need to learn! My spending is flutuating *laughs* and I could almost never work out a decent plan I could really follow. Well, always feel like I have to catch up my goal of saving. *smiles*

I would love to save... but right now that is not possible... because my husband and i are still paying our debts... the money that is left goes to paying the rent, utilities, groceries and everything that we need... sometimes we have a few hundred pesos extra... and sometimes we need more...
But hopefully... we will be able to save next year...even just a little each month...

I'm saving money right now and looking for new way's to earn extra money right now so I can save more. Things are tough all over now. Everyone I know is thinking frugally and trying to save money and are looking to get the best deals on food and clothing and other basic items. If I could afford it right now I would also start stocking up on food, maybe I can do that in a few weeks but right now I can't. So right now I'm not buying, I'm saving. But since the Christmas holidays are coming around I need to have a plan to get the most out of my money when it comes to buying gifts.

I think the recession hit worldwide. Currently, I'm into saving now. Work hard and earn money to save for the rainy days whhich is fast approaching. I'm also a sucker for promo sales, but several promo sales has already passed and gone that I have passed. I need to beefed up my bank balance...hopefully!

Hello wondericequeen,
I am afraid to spend during this difficult time but sometimes when I see this promotion and sales, I just can't let it go just like that Recently I did spend some money and every time I came home, my husband definitely will look for how many bags I brought with me! That makes me feel guilty!
