Apples are better at waking you up then coffee? Plus they are much healthier. Obviously the Caffeine in coffee wakes you up- but the apple is much more effective- I'm not quite sure where i read it, but one morning i tried an apple rather then a coffee and i felt just as refreshed. As well as good about myself for eating a little healthy :P
So instead of that coffee- which isnt that great for you, why not pick up an apple and eat it on the way to work?
- Also a little on the side note- try tea instead of coffee- it helps to cleanse your toxins.

coffee gets such a bad rap when in actuality coffee is extremely healthy for you. its overflowing with those cancer fighting antioxidants everyone is trying to get so much of as of late, along with a whole plethora of other healthy benefits. same as with anything.. too much isnt a good thing.. moderation is key. even eating a bushel of apples everyday would make you ill, regardles of how "healthy" they are.

Every morning, I choose a fresh Chinese gooseberry instead of an apple, because I don't like apple, of course, I tried an cup of soybean milk rather then a coffee. Chinese gooseberry contains multi-vitamin, is good for health. I like to drink green tea which helps to clean my toxins and prevent the computer radiation.

I knew that apples suppress your appetite and the just the scent of green apples do the same thing. But I didn't know about being an energy booster like you've stated. That is terrific news for me as I have had to give up all caffeine due to kidney problems and could really use something to give me a little extra boost in the mornings. I will definately grab an apple tomorrow morning. Thanks for the post....I very much appreciate you for sharing this interesting tidbit with us :)

I would think so. I'm sure they take much longer to eat, though. But they must be good for the colon.
I also notice that heat makes people tired. I heard people yawn because their brains need cool air to cool them off, to wake them up. So, a hot cup of coffee can't be refreshing and cool like a crisp apple is.
Pregnant women can't have much coffee anyway, it makes their babies underweight, so this is a great alternative.

Wow. I never new that. Does that mean any apple that I eat will have the same effect. Or is it just one kind of apple, as there are many different kinds of apples. Well I will definetly be trying this tomorrow morning. Even though I do not drink coffee

Hmmm... I've never heard of this. Maybe I'll start eating an apple every day I wake up. Although, I usually don't have enough time in the mornings to eat an apple... busy busy me, I guess.
On a side note, I hate coffee. I don't know what about it makes me want to go "Yuck!", but I can't stand coffee. I think tea is okay though, but not something I'd drink every day. I guess since I dislike coffee and tea, an apple would be perfect to start my day :)

The proverb "An apple a day keeps the doctor away," addresses the health effects of the fruit. Though this adage was likely the result of farmers encouraging higher sales of produce in an effort to counteract the belief that it was an apple that was the forbidden fruit which Adam and Eve ate,[citation needed] research suggests that apples may reduce the risk of colon cancer, prostate cancer and lung cancer.[37] Compared to many other fruits and vegetables, apples contain relatively low amounts of Vitamin C as well as several other antioxidant compounds.[35] The fiber content, while less than in most other fruits, helps regulate bowel movements and may thus reduce the risk of colon cancer. They may also help with heart disease,[38] weight loss[38] and controlling cholesterol,[38] as they do not have any cholesterol, have fiber, which reduces cholesterol by preventing reabsorption, and are bulky for their caloric content like most fruits and vegetables.[38][39]
There is evidence that in vitro apples possess phenolic compounds which may be cancer-protective and demonstrate antioxidant activity.[40] The predominant phenolic phytochemicals in apples are quercetin, epicatechin, and procyanidin B2.[41]
Apple juice concentrate has been found to increase the production of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine in mice, providing a potential mechanism for the "prevent[ion of] the decline in cognitive performance that accompanies dietary and genetic deficiencies and aging." Others studies have shown an "alleviat[ion of] oxidative damage and cognitive decline" in mice after the administration of apple juice.[42]
The seeds are mildly poisonous, containing a small amount of amygdalin, a cyanogenic glycoside; usually not enough to be dangerous to humans, but it can deter birds.[43]

I read that too. Apples actually can jump start your day. Apples contain fructose which is a type of sugar found in fruits and honey. Because it can be delivered slowly with the process of eating and contains fiber from the skin and meat of the apple, the sugar does not give us a kick like coffee or candy can. There are no adverse effects such an addiction that some people experience from coffee or some energy drinks.
So if you want to be healthy or if you're trying to find an alternative to caffeine, perhaps an apple could be the ideal choice for you.
