Has people ever thought about his before?
He did had the long hair that made him look like one?
He was always peaceful to everyone.
Had a limited wardrobe.
Maybe hippies are the true followers of jesus.............

Do I assume the musicals "Hair" and "Jesus Christ Superstar" never played in India? Not only has it been said before, it has been said before for a lot of money. I actually prefer the idea that he was a political activist who was living in sin with Mary Magdalene and that he escaped crucifixion and lived happily ever after with Mary and the kids in Wales. Or was it Ireland? Maybe France. Could have been Germany.

Well, there is speculation that Jesus studied far eastern religions like Buhdism and such durring his absence. A lot of the teachings in the gospel on life in general can be found in those religions. "hippies" ere known in the 60's and 70's for following these philosophies, like buhdism, hinuism, consulting yogi's and swammi's etc. I guess one could actualy say that Jesus was the original hippy. I doubt he toked on a bong and or went to woodstock though, lol. (ok, the last line was bad, sorry)

Well this is certainly one of the most interesting angles I have ever seen. I certainly don't believe Jesus was a hippie. Jesus had long hair and a beard because that was the way men looked during the time that Jesus was on earth. Most men had long (often scraggly) hair and similar looking beards, much the way men of the mid-east region look today. He was peaceful to everyone because he loves everyone. As for the limited wardrobe, most people during the time Jesus was on earth didn't have a wide variety of clothing to choose from.

Growing up in the 60s and 70s, I remember the buttons and bumper stickers that said Jesus was a hippie, and there's an old Kris Kristofferson song that goes:
Jesus was a Capricorn
He ate organic food
He believed in love and peace
And never wore no shoes
Long hair, beard and sandals
And a funky bunch of friends
Reckon we'd just nail him up
If he came down again
you can find the rest of the lyrics here: http://www.lyricsfreak.com/k/kris+kristofferson/jesus+was+a+capricorn_20080503.html
They're not really about Jesus and Christianity - but they're worth a read.
