Healthier Breads

The makers of the processed white bread spend a lot of money to advertise that it's healthy. They add vitamins to it to make up for white flours lack of vitamins. The stuff is virtually lacking in fiber and taste. Do you think white bread is healthy. When I was a kid everyone ate Wonder Bread. I was one of the few kids who refused to eat it and made my mom buy bakery bread for me. The other kids thought I was weird for not having the same bread they did, but I was weird anyway. There are so many other options. I love whole wheat, rye without the seeds, or pumpernickel. I just had a yummy grilled cheese and sprouts sandwich on nice dark pumpernickel bread. It's so much more satisfying than the white bread. What do you think of other types of bread? Do you eat them? Do you like them? Or do you like the soft mushy white bread that comes pre-packaged. What's your favorite type of bread?

I normally eat the "soft mushy white pre-packaged" bread. hahaha I do eat wheat bread sometimes also. I am not a picky eater and I have eaten other breads also but don't buy them since I don't eat that much bread to begin with. If I bought other breads they would just ruin, the white bread is what my husband eats and has his sandwiches made out of for work so that is what's there if I want any.

Mine is a female, 14 yrs. old and she has a male's name. I saw the movie The Lion King and I fell in love with Simba so that is how she got her name. I just have her and one dog, an Italian Greyhound who will be 2 in January, named Elvis. His birthday is the same as Elvis's and it didn't even dawn on us when we named him that.

My favorite is pumpernickle, but I don't think a peanut butter and chocolate sandwich would match the flavor of that kind of bread....

Oooh Peanut butter and chocolate. Yumm. Nutella makes a spread that's some kind of nut and chocolate. It's heaven on egg bread. I'm on a diet so chocolate is out. I'd eat the whole jar in 1 week if I bought it. I'd eat it by the spoonfull. Bad girl! LOL

I tried that nutella - didn't care for it. One of the candy bar brands has one - milky way? I like plain peanut butter and Betty Crocker Rich and Creamy Chocolate Frosting - its corn free!

I love the multi-grain bread. I got one loaf of what was considered ancient grains, and it tastes much better then even whole wheat. In fact, I have to get bread that has various grains, seeds, and nuts in it because it has a better flavor, For some reason I just cannot stand ordinary 100 percent whole wheat, there has to be more different grains and also flax seed and sesame seeds in them for me to like it. The trouble is that they cost more, so the only time I get them is when they are on the day old shelf and then I can stock up as I only eat four slices a day.

I wish they sold the day old bread cheaper here. It's the same price. The delivery people don't take back the old bread when they deliver the new stuff, so you really have to be careful. Every place has good and bad. This is one of the bad things in my country. No big deal. We do have unwrapped government subsidized rye bread. I won't buy it because it's been touched by dozens of people in the store. Yuck! Why people think it's OK to touch the bread with their bare hands is beyond me. Israel is still 3rd world in this respect. It's getting better in the bigger towns. In the next town 45 minutes away they have signs in the bread department not to touch the bread with bare hands. I have OCD about people touching my food with unwashed hands. I don't even touch my food without washing my hands first.

I don't like the whole wheat thing. I like white bread. I also only buy baked bread as the manufactured business is so awfully cheap and useless. I guess the only exception I have to this is garlic bread which I adore. The other things are just not that tasty and most of them taste the same anyway.

Some people like white bread. The bakery white bread tastes so much better than the mass produced manufactured stuff.

I only buy 100% whole wheat bread. I'm so used to it that white bread tastes like cake to me now. I really like grainy breads and ones with lots of seeds and things on them. They're just so much heartier (and better for you) than plain 'ol white.

I love the seedy breads too, but not caraway seeds that are in rye. As a teen the only good store bought bread was Oraway. It had all kinds of nuts and seeds in it. I made my mom buy it for me. I was a picky eater and liked really healthy things. I wouldn't eat very many over processed foods. Better for me that I didn't. I'm glad she would spend the extra money to buy the healthy things I wanted. She agreed because I rarely asked for any junk food that didn't have nutritional value.
