What to do when you have a meddling sister-in-law

Do you have trouble imposing discipline on your son or daughter because your sister-in-law interferes and spoils him/her? Is sister-in-law is your son/daughter's guardian and can be quite sensitive? What will you do to stop your sister-in-law from butting in? Is it better to get a nanny/maid to take over your sister-in-law's role? Well, these are my suggestions: first, try talking to your sister-in-law, telling her that you appreciate her efforts in rearing your son/daughter. Make her understand that just like her, you and your husband want the best for the child, especially in the values imparted early in life; and that if the child receives inconsistent discipline techniques from adults in the house, he/she will end up confused. Secondly, if you think she will listen more to her brother, then convince your husband to do the talking. I also strongly suggest that you and your husband set aside regular time to bond or connect with your child. You also encourage a regular one-on-one activity between your husband and your child. This way, even if he is left with a guardian, be it your sister-in-law or a nanny, your child knows that he has to obey you as authorities and as nurturing parents. One of the most important roles of parents is to discipline their children. Take an active path in it and don't miss out on this challenging task.
