Today I had to go to jury duty. I really was not looking forward to it in a way, as the parking sucks in my city, but after all it is my duty. Other than that I really don't mind doing jury duty, even though I have to make arrangements with my job if need be. Well I didn't have to worry about that, we had to be there at 8:30am, we did not get out until 2:25pm. They had 3 civil cases, and they called in 200 people, and they only called about 50 people, and I was not one of them, so I don't have to go back, and I made $40 for the day, plus it was my day off.
Now I won't get called again for 6 years.
How do you all feel about getting called for jury duty? Have you done it before, and if so tell us about it.

I never have been called for any jury duty. My friends have but I never have. I am a registered voter and should be a qualification but has not worked for me.

I have never served on a jury. But I have been called. I was ill at the time. SO I didn't have to appear. $40 for the day, not bad. I was under the impression it was like $12-15. A friend of mine was recently called. I guess we'll find out soon if he is going to serve.

I have been picked for jury duty and did not like what the verdict was. it was a civil case and they gave the lady 25k for being bumped with a shopping cart in Costco. It was horrible here in CA you do not have to have everyone agree in a civil case I was the only one to disagree.

Can I ask what you state you live in that pays $40 a day? Here it's $9 a day and I've heard some place are even less than that! Also how do you know you won't get called again for six years? We don't have anything like that here, some people get called over and over, and some never do. I've been called three times since i was 25, that's almost 20 years. My mom is 81 and has only ever been called once in her life.

I live in NY, Troy to be exact, it states it on paper as well as when you go for the screening part as well. We were also told we would not be called for another 6 years. I have done jury duty in the past, and it has been far and few between that I have been called.
