Daisy, don't misunderstand me. I am not saying anything against the Chinese people. However like in the US there are some of the rich that are taking advantage of the people. They work them for cheap wages and make a big profit off them. It's the ones that own the companies that makes the goods and the exporters that ship them all over the world. The workers in any country can only make anything as good as the material they have to work with. China is selling a bunch of cheap junk for the simple reason that's where most of the profit is. The Chinese people can only work with what they are given to work with. It isn't their fault.

To sum everything up, I think imports from China aren't so bad, but only a selective amount of imports are bad. For example, everyone knows about the lead paint problem with childrens toys. Obviously, China has a problem with lead paint and needs to get that solved. However, the rest of their imports are still good, so I don't see why you can't use them. People are saying "Don't use Chinese imports" because of the US economy. They are thinking that by using only US-made products, it will boost our economy. While this is somewhat true, stores do get a profit off of Chinese-made products, so buying products that are made in China are still helping the economy, in a way. Overall, they aren't bad. You just have to watch out for those few things.

well, i do not know why people can not use things made in China, too. maybe the Chinese still have a low level on life? there are over 13 billion Chinese, they all use things that are made in China. Why the other countries' people can not use?! Why those people say the Chinese products are all bad?!

Caveat emptor should have been the warning. I have use Chinese made products and the experience was not pleasant. Among the items that I personally bought and used were a lighter, several calculators, ball point pens, digital watches, electrical items, and footwear. They were nicely designed but did not last long. The initial attraction was the price, Now I avoid buying goods made in China until the manufacturers clean up their act. This does not happen to branded goods from companies which had relocated to China. The question of imports destroying the home economy should not be taken out of proportion. Sometimes workers demand too much and sometimes going on strikes causing disruptions to manufacturing outputs and delays in supply schedules. Guess where desperate customers go to. It is true there are bosses who make full use of their workers. As workers do we really know the intricacies of running a business, especially with regard to cash flow? Customers with money tend to look for quality. Cheap competition may initially affect sales but this usually does not last long like what is happening in Malaysia. Currently I am 'watching' Chinese made products.
