Childhood is indeed the happiest phase of one's life and I strongly agree with that. You don't have to bother about anything. Everything is taken care of by your parents and other adults. The lack of freedom that is faced from time to time because of too much of interference from the adult world is nothing compared to kind of hardship that you need to go through as an adult yourself.

Childhood was certainly not the happiest time of my life. College is when I began to really enjoy life and it has only gotten better since then.
I hope my son will consider his childhood an extremely happy time.

I can't say that my childhood was the happiest time in my life, because when I was a child I had to suffer and do things in order to survive. I didn't even had a chance to play dolls and other toys I remember playing jackstones with my neighbour and my dad had to beat me up because I am wasting my time when there are lots of things to be done.

I have both experience. A happy living with my family but I do have sad experience being molested by my cousins for several time and nearly got raped by him. It really left a scar in me and I still had it even though I reached my 30s. I was really scared before I got married because my customs demands me to keep my virginity. So hard, but it is my past so I live with it.

For most people, i would say that childhood would most certaintly be the happiest time of one's life.
This is because you are innocent and pure when you are young. You have no cares in the world. You just go have fun. When you get older you have a fall from innocence, you learn about all the bad things in the world around you, you need to start to act more mature, you have more responsibilities, less time to do what you really want.
I said for most people because sometimes due to certain family issues or some other event, a child will fall from innocence very early. Then later in life they will realize that not only are there bad things and people in the world, but there is good out there.
Wow...I was not expecting to type so much :P

for me it is. maybe the state of being in love with someone would come second to it. nothing compares to the carelessness of youth. i had true friends then and we ate sunflower seeds every afternoon, catch dragon flies, we were eager to grow up but having a great time while we're at it. i love the time when i sneak out of the house because i don't like sleeping in the afternoon. there were no bills to pay, only santan flowers to sip.. those were the days...
