No doubt braveheart is one of the best movies that I've seen in my entire messy life, and still love to watch it over and over again. But dont you know that based on research, some scenes of this movie is historically inaccurate which Elizabeth Ewan, an historian, describes this film which " almost totally sacrifices historical accuracy for epic adventure"? First: William Wallace, the main character, never met or slept with Isabelle,as she married the Prince of Wales three years after Wallace's death. Second: Prima Noctis, the legal right allowing the Lord of an estate to the take take the virginity of the estate's virgins, was never used by King Edward. Third: The commencement of the film gives the starting date as 1280 and states that the king of Scotland had died. But Alexande III of Scotland did not die until 1286....These are just few of the many. In defense, Mel Gibson, the director who at the same portrayed the role of William Wallace, said that the way the events were portrayed were much more " cinematically compelling" than the historical and/or mythical fact..
