I live in Greece and I am thinking of traveling in US. I have never been there before and it is like a dream to me. The problem is that US is a huge country and I can stay there for a maximum of 2 or three weeks (because I am non a rich guru and i have to work to earn that money). Where do you think I should go? How much money should I plan I would pay in an average hotel? Any help would be gratefully appreciated.

I have taken three enjoyable trips to California and one trip to Hawaii. Los Angeles has been the first stop on my trip around the world and to and from New Zealand. I liked San Francisco, Santa Cruz, Santa Barbara and San Diego most of all. I am sure that other areas would be equally lovely to explore. How about going to Cape Cod, Boston, New York and Washington DC? Florida might be a great place for you to go. I stayed in dorms in youth hostels and backpacker hostels when I was in the USA. Hotel rooms in the USA have two beds so are for couples or two people traveling together. So as a single traveler it was far cheaper for me to do hosteling. I was thinking of flying to Cartagena in Colombia with a few days in Miami on the way there and the way back. I was shocked when I looked at a travel guide book. Hotel costs are high in that part of Florida. A budget hotel room might be $50 a night and something nicer might be $100 a night plus. Hotel costs would vary in different parts of the USA. Good luck planning your trip to the USA.

Thank you! Actually I am planning to travel with my husband, so we will stay in a hotel (as I understand an expensive solution). Thanks for your advice, I will find a guide for everything that you mentioned.

I can see that you will be with your husband so you two will be fine staying in a double hotel room. I would like to go back to the USA because there is so much to see. It would be great if I could go to Canada during that same trip.

There's a lot of good vacation spots in America. California and Las Vegas would be great but expect that everything is expensive there. I hope you will enjoy your vacation here in America. You can just stay in motels. They're cheaper.

That's true, Motels are cheaper and usually have a diner close by.

Honestly, you don't say where you are already visiting. the U.S. is a huge country. You might check around where you are already visiting and try to see things in the same area. For example, if you go to NY, you could probably get up into New England, Boston or down to Washington D.C. and visit historic (tho pretty new stuff considering where you come from) but still interesting sites in Virginia, the Historic Williamsburg being one of them. Check where you are already visiting and look for things that are around the area.

The American West is very beautiful and scenic. I think that you would enjoy going there, but there are alot of beautiful sites to see in this country, it really depends on what type of scenery you like, and how free are you able to travel around.

I think either Yellowstone Park or the Grand Canyon would be the first places I'd recommend.

Do you have any ideas on where you want to go in the USA? Depending on where you go, you can stay in a hotel or a motel. Motels are cheaper per night, and as long as they are clean and provide good customer service it's ok because how often do you really plan on staying in your room? Probably not long. So, you do not necessarily have to stay in a 5 star hotel that will cost you MUCH more than staying in a motel. Good luck to you and enjoy your trip when you decide to travel!
