Well I had taken my daughter to an Ear, Nose, Throat specialist yesterday, and we will probably have to take her tonsils out, but he told me that she has reflux. I was surprised. He gave me a pamplet and we went over it, she has all the symptoms of reflux. He said you don't have to have heartburn to have reflux and it usually runs in the family, which her father has it. He is treating her with Prevacid and last night for the first time in a long time she didn't cough or clear her throat at all. The one downfall that is killing her is that she is not allowed to have caffiene or chocolate since this can irritate the reflux. The Dr. said it was not uncommon. So does any of your children have reflux?? How are you treating it??

Just out of curiosity how old is your daughter? What were her symptoms? Sometimes I suspect my daughter may have this due to her nighttime coughing. She is 7 says she feels like she wants to throw up as if something is in her throat. She is being treated as if she has asthma but the only time she has symptoms is at night, usually when she sleeps.

My daughter was diagnosed with GERD when she was only 5 weeks old. She was put on medicine for it, but really it did not help her at all. I actually think it made it worse. I stopped giving it to her after about a week. She stopped having a problem when she started eating solid foods and it has not bothered her since.
