limits you from reading all of the responses...[em]doh[/e] So I'm sitting here trying to bid a plan online for work, right. My email keeps dinging that windows ding,it's myLot about twenty five times in an hour. Now I am easily distracted so every forth or fifth ding I check it out, think Oh yeah I'll respond now. I click respond to this discussion, type it up, hit post response, skip the tag and go back to what I was doing. I turn them on to make it easier for ME not thinking I would never read any other responses before posting so maybe someone posted exactly what I did but sooner. Now people will think I'm stupid or crazy or not even caring about the discussion! They must know I didn't read it before hand right? How silly I feel right about now. I think I'll keep in fashion with the times, not take responsibility for my actions and blame it on the crappy notify design! Did you ever do something dumb and blame it on something else?

Hello redkathy, I always respond via my email as I opened a special email address for myLot. As usual, I don't know what others think about the topic and it is good that my response won't be affected by others. Sometimes I do feel like a stupid when my response is very much different from others but I just don't care. If the topic really attractive, I will read other responses after I posted mine. If not, I will go to the next discussion.

I am sure we all have days where we did something silly and put the blame on something else. When it comes to responding to notifications from mylot, I usually do it on my free time. I never turn on the notification on my emails so that it will inform me of new mail. Cos with the recent notifications from mylot, it will keep ringing non stop! And being a avid fan of mylot, I would be tempted to reply immediately. That would put a stop to my work. A big no no. I still need my day job to keep the bacon on the table! What I do is to let the notifications come in. And when I am free, I would reply to them. As many as I can at one go. This will allow me to keep track of all the notifications without it affecting my work. So what if I reply to them a little late? What matters is I replied to them. Some days, I would be so busy at work, I would be too tired to on the computer at home. So it will be delayed a day or two. Don't let mylot rule your life. It is a very good site to be on. Unless you can make a decent living from mylot alone and not need that day job, do keep your priorities right. No point getting a bad review from work due to your favorite site, rite?

That is one way to do it. The other is to go to the preferences of the messenger and turn off the notification for the incoming mail. That way, there will be no pesky popups at the corner of the PC as well.

Unique not weird, and maybe a bit crazy too. Maybe that's why we agree so often

Hi kathy! I respond to mylot via my yahoo emails! I don't read the responses before hand. I just don't want to be influenced in what I plan on writing. Sometimes I feel stupid because I have written something similar to what someone else has written and I think that they will think that I have "copied" what they have written. BUT, I don't copy anything! I have never copied, or even used the cut and paste feature at any time! I never understood why people get so excited about reaching 500 posts to get that feature. I couldn't have cared less! I just don't use cut and paste. I type fast enough to say what I want and it is always, honest and fresh each time I type it! And I intend to continue to answer discussions directly from my emails because that's what works the best for me!

I intend on continuing too but my typing speed is atrocious! I'm a two finger picker no matter how much I do

Well, I think that many times we all get in a hurry due to a limited time to be in here and just hit respond without going thru and reading some of the other responses here first. But you know I think I have enough original thoughts and ideas myself to have to worry about looking like I copied someone. But there are times reading some of the responses first helps me get more of a better idea on how I might want to respond as well.

Yes, I wish they had a link to bring us to the discussion, not just to the responding page. But by now I know most of my friends are probably responding through e-mail, so I don't think much of it when I see them repeating something someone else just said. And just so you know, I respond through e-mail too :) BTW, I signed up for Ciao, but never got my confirmation e-mail. Must be something about that site doesn't like my e-mail address, how weird. But not much I can do, I don't use any other mail carrier.
