what do you call" help"?

i have a friend that says he never ever asked for help from any one? he says no one has ever helped him in his life so i ask what do you call "help"?

I usually avoid people who have such "dark" sides to them.
They're not only unappreciative but also very, very arrogant.
There are people out there who think "help" comes only in the
form of currencies...Help = $$$ !!!
They fail to see anything intangible like moral, emotional, psychological
or even physical support as "help"...so, why bother? :(

I'd say your friend is being really self-centered when he says that. I'm sure that at some point he's demanded that someone listen to him. That in itself is 'asking for help'. To have your voice heard even through commanding people to hear it is indirectly asking. Help in the sense that he means it probably refers to money, a place to sleep, a ride, a meal. But everyone has asked for help... Remind him he was a kid once and didn't know how to tie his shoes.
